I've lived in the same house for 13 years my neighbour 3 doors up for longer always had a good relationship they even look after my house when I'm away. Two days ago I saw him and he and I both said hello, he looked towards my feet with a look of hate on his face, tonight he completely ignored me and again looked towards my feet with a look of hate. What have I done to upset him.
I've got a dog not any dog a Staffie.

How can anyone change that much over a dog. He has only seen her from a distance.

I'm aware of people being judgemental against Staffie's but this takes the biscuit.

Seriously? My goodness, how bizarre! I'd be asking him what the problem is. Surely he can't just look at and hate a dog, that's weird. I admit, I really don't like staffies, but I'd be swung once I'd said hello, it's impossible not to like any nice dog, regardless of breed.

Maybe he has had a run in with one in the past. Knew someone who had been bitten by a shepherd as a child, he wouldn't go near them and went into a sort of panic attack.

I spent a short time living on an estate last year, previously lived in a cul-de-sac for 22years. We have a rottieX , and large lurcher, you see the look of fear and panic when we approached people and they would often cross the road. We have four cats and the oldest was laid on the pavement doing the, aren't I cute give me a stroke' in front of the dogs when I neighbour asked me wasn't I frightened they would attack her, which of I said no they all lived in the house together. I was astounded that anyone would think I would keep a dog that was not safe in my house.
I only lived their for 12 months but most of the dog owners I saw daily on took them far enough to c**p not in their garden, mainly on the footpath, they see small dogs as safe and the non do owners are just horrified that you should have something so big.
I am sorry but staffies have a real bad reputation with a lot of people although they are sweet loving dogs as a general rule, like most dogs its the owners who are the problem.

OP, get a your Staffie, a pink or multi-coloured collar/harness/lead.
Our 2 Rottweilers wear girly colours and are perceived by most as being friendly dogs (which they are). More than one person has explained that they tend to avoid dogs, especially the bull breeds, wearing studded 'tough dog' collars etc.

Here is a great opportunity for you to turn this mans perception around, make sure your dog is the most obedient dog on the planet and introduce him to her, let your dog be an ambassador for the breed and help turn their awful reputation around.

I fostered a Staffie bitch for a while who was the most gentle loving dog /people friendly dog around, I took her around our village at every opportunity so people could see she was just a dog that had been brought up properly and was just like any other dog. She came with the most awful plastic studded collar and a chain lead which was binned at the first opportunity.
