I don't believe this..

Situation is dire. At a recent sale TB's were going for £20 each. To what future.

I feel so bad for them all! I understand people are struggling but £20 each? Ridiculous!

the colt (yearling) has been ridden and driven.............
And mare back in foal probably covered by the colt!

Wouldn't be suprised!! :(

Same one as _Noodle caught my eye :(

"Shetland mare and yearling colt for sale. The mare is also back in foal for 2013 so this is a 3 in one package.
The colt has been ridden and put in the cart and harness just needs bringing on."

Bargain 3 for one offer. Perfect for Christmas...

the trouble is that the cost of gelding out ways the cost of the colt,
unless shetlands are show quality or you are prepared to take the time to school them why breed them ?

I suppose some people see them as just money making machines, same as dogs and cats really.
''oh just bought a mare, let's immediately put her infoal and advertise the youngster just as it's born'' - Oh hey great idea, why don't you cover her again after she's given birth too?

Sorry for the little conversation with myself.
:D:D

whoever said the situation is bad i couldnt agree more.

i have a little 14hh coloured out on grass livery about anhour away.... i could do with selling her as shes never going to be big enough but quite frankly i dread to think where she would end up...therefore im keeping her and paying out (i dont see her shes on full care).....

i know not everyone is as fortunate as being able to keep them regardless but mabey people should use their heads and stop breeding so much!?

and stop breeding crap.........?

:( Its a depressing situation for whatever animal breed you look at horses, dogs, cats, reptiles the list goes on just seems that people see the £ signs and think that breeding is easy.

Rescues are so full and most are healthy :(:(

I wonder what would happen if nobody bought them? Surely they'd end up having to keep them. And how would they pts if they can't afford them?!

If I had enough land I would so buy all of them and have a little random pony herd! Feel so sorry for them, who thinks riding a yearling a good idea!!!
