Is it because of the frost? If so, that is entirely understandable and I am with you there. In fact I've just had a text to say it's cancelled anyway. Otherwise you may need some serious hunting therapy! More hunting is the answer. Tally ho!
Yes an early night (after you've plaited up ) wack up your central heating so you wake up early to a nice warm house and a hot bath and a bowl of warm sugary porridge! you are more likely to jump out of bed eager to get out in that cold weather, rather than being dragged out clutching to your duvet!
Didn't think about the hounds getting sore feet, bless them! I'm wondering whether our hunt will be going or not, i'm sure if they can, they will! Question is, do i want to use one of my days (i'm on a 10 day ticket this season!) but he is fit.......doh, decisions!
I think i'll just have to wait and see as to just how frozen the ground is in the morning, i'm not risking my horse!
I haven't heard of this illness either, our hunt is deciding at 9 in the morning, am hopin we can go not looking forward to a winter like last year and missin out on hunting!
And it's actually the hounds feet that are most likely to get cut in the frost, and as they are the most important part of the hunt there welfare will come first, they are actually slightly better in proper snow as it is more cushioning. One off the other concerns realy is the lorries etc on the roads, if they are slippy!
I had planned to go out tomorrow but will give it a miss. Meet has been put back to mid-day, but as it hasn't thawed completely for two days, I can't see it happening tomorrow.
