I thought things were going so well for you .You have my sympathies.
I bought some magnetic bell boots for Ollie and after farrier had been he really improved .Found lots of bruising which he cut out of hoof.
Hope things improve have you had leg scanned.

no not had it scanned vet seems to think it best to wait and see waht he is like in a month, this is my boy that done his tendon my girlie with all the other probs is sound so far.
My farrier thinks I should keep goldfish as much safer lol

My horse had an injury to his DDFT but MTI scans showed it was VERY severe, for him it was not a happy ending.

You poor boy sounds as though some rest might easily see it right - I will keep everything crossed for you.

So frustrating I have problems with my new mare as well.
She was kicked about 4 weeks ago had swelling on hock spoke to the vet and he said if she was sound it was haematoma and would go down eventually .In the meantime she has developed mud fever vet checked it but it needed antibiotics as her leg was swelling really badly and became infected. With bandaging the mud fever swelling has gone in fetlock but hock is swollen. If I take her out for hour walking swelling goes but every morning its up again and we cant excercise her if legs swollen.Farrier came today and he couldnt shoe her back feet because her leg was up.10 mins walking out and swelling had gone again.I have left her hock in magnetic support tonight will see if she can pick up her leg tomorrow if not another phone call tovet and possibly call out.He did warn me that leg would get worse before it got better but I am getting concerned enough to have him out.
Im with you goldfish seems much better option.

what a pair between us both we might have a sound horse lol
cant believe my boy we had him so long and never any probs always my trusted reliable one bless him think he has decided that storms been getting to much attention so thought he needed to do something dramatic just hope its not to drastic and he will recover not had much dealing with tendon injurys and he is gettin on a bit now. Also hoping that her ladyship stays sound now she has made some real progress last few weeks, glad to here your boy is making some progress and hopefully your girl will too!

My boy tore a hole in his gastrocnemus tendon the week before last and ripped part of it off his hock to boot!!

We are 11 days into 60 days of box rest and hand walking before returning for more scans to see how well the stem cells are 'fixing' the hole.

I have had him for almost 10 years and like your boy he has been sound his entire life. He is only 14 and I too have to prepare myself for the posibility I may have to retire him if the treatment fails so I know exactly how you are feeling. fingers crossed for both our babys!!

Dont give up!!!

My horse split his DDFT and manica flexoria nearly 3 years ago. He had tenoscopy and box rest until I removed his stitches. He went out in hand and we built this up until he could go into a tiny paddock.

The vet stressed to me that its important to give regular gentle exercise in hand for tendon injuries to prevent adhesions.

My horse is fine now and is back in work. In fact when the vet saw him last year for something unrelated, he was amazed at how good he was - there was talk of him not being comfortable enough to be a field ornament, let alone ridden.

So do not give up. My horse was unsound in walk and trot and tried to move on 3 legs. It is possible by the sound of it that your horse has nicked the tendon rather than split/torn it.

I fed my horse Tendoneaze and windgall from global herbs and used magnotherapy once his stitches were out.

Dont give up, I know how you are feeling, but tendon injuries can have a happy outcome.

thanks for that I have ordered him some bio flow boots as they helped my mare so much thought it cant do him any harm, checked him today, first time I have seen him in day light and there is hardly any swelling there now I know its going to take time although he is 25 he certainly not ready for retirement still thinks he is 4!
