Like everyone else I am frustrated and fed up with this awful weather, I work full time and have to commute into London and that has been a total nightmare in itself

and I am just feeling guilty as I've not seen George since Monday

Now before anyone shouts at me, he is on part livery so is absolutely fine

He has even been able to go out for a few hours each day so I am very lucky there

I just know that when I get home from work at 7pm that it isn't sensible to get in the car and risk life and limb on icy lanes just to go and pat him and give him a groom, but it doesn't stop me feeling like I am neglecting him

I know we are all suffering in different ways with the weather and my woes are miniscule, but just wanted a moan

I am in the exact same situation as you. I also commute into London from Kent and haven't seen my lad since Sunday. I feel guilty and neglectful, even though he lives out and is being given breakfast and dinner, has ad lib hay and is checked on about 4 times a day.

Dont want to make you feel worse you 2 but i doubt your horses feel the same! As long as they have food, water, shelter, a chance to move about and equine company then they are happy. They wont be pining for you so stop stressing!

I'm the same

I am in London and my ponies are only a short drive away but my friend who lives on site has been doing them since Monday

I get twice daily reports and it seems they don't miss me but I feel like a terrible mum!

I feel bad for my two even though I get to see them every day. My boy is becoming a right little monster again because he isn't getting any exercise, 5 times since 22nd Dec and not since 31st in this run of weather. Luckily my mare is very chilled and is loving mooching about, I know she'll be exactly the same when I'm next able to get back on her.
They are both getting about 8hrs out each day so it isn't too bad but
Frozen fields, arena and driveway = a grumpy owner and very cheeky horse!!

I'm the same - my driveway means i cant get my car out - I've got YO doing Luca but I feel terrible not getting to him and checking him myself... oh well not much i can do now...

Thanks for making me feel worse

It is only safe to turn the horses out in the old sand school during the day, as there are 10 horses they go out in 2 groups of 5 and get about 5 hrs each. I know it's not ideal

but at least he can let off a bit of steam.

teddyt - I am in no doubt that he isn't missing me in the slightest, he may be missing his extra carrots, but I doubt he is missing the work!

I feel simialr. Share horsey has been out once or twice with owner this week but I haven't been able to get to him since the weekend. Several miles of solid icey hilly lanes between nearest transport/clear roads and the farm. He is on the walker/put in the indoor school by himself everyday by resident YM but he would much prefer it if he got to go out for longer and see more things hacking (slowly!) around the frozen fields with me. Am going to try again tomorrow am...

Same here - not seen them since Monday. I have a 15 mile drive each way to the yard and getting from London to Epping can be a nightmare if the traffic is at a standstill. I have on occasion spent over 2 hours to get there.

I also have a nasty chest infection so am grounded.

I hope to see them tomorrow, OH is going to take me up and make sure I don't get cold.

They are well looked after - I have put them on full livery and they are able to go into the indoor school for exercise and a roll twice a day.

Mine has been in 24/7 for days now as he is laminitic and I just don't dare to turn him out in case he tries to eat the frozen grass. All I can do is pat him on the nose and muck him out. He is very bored though and has kicked his bucket at me and tried to knock the wheel barrow over. Can't say I blame him too much though, poor thing.

We're all int he same boat....

Our hunters (who are all uber fit at the mo) have been in since before Xmas. They are going out in the school and in cinder paddocks for a while each day.

Mine went out with his mate yesterday, he spent 10 mins galloping round like a nutter, then 10 mins digging a hole in the surface while his mate chewed the fence. YP then retreived them before they trashed anything else!

Seems like we're stuck with the weather tho....:-( no hunting for a while. Out on foot tomorrow though, that will be entertaining!

Aahhh, I know its horrid, but they're being looked after, we're all doing the best we can and look on the bright side, it won't last for ever

Agree probably won't be stressing but my horse who is on part-livery and whom I hadn't been able to see since Sunday screamed with delight at seeing me today - OK so maybe he is thinking carrots and treats but it made me feel good esp when the YO said he never does that for us when we arrive in the morning.

I could tell he really enjoyed me fussing him today and all the other horses were jealous.
