Is there a reason why you can't ride while being on part livery? I work 9-5 but yard is an hour away in traffic. Do you have family commitments that put you on a tight schedule?

I'm on DIY - but to be honest I would rather my horse had exercise during the week. She's abit mad with only being ridden twice a week!

Hi LaurenM, this is exactly why she is ridden by yard owner because ee if she was only ridden at weekends she would be a nutter - she needs working at least 5-6 x a week to keep her sane:rolleyes:

I think all of us struggle sometimes with work horse family friends life balance etc it can be a hard act to feel like you are fitting everything in, especially in winter when mornings and evenings are dark and the weather is miserable. I have to work otherwise I couldn't afford to have my horse, and in order to have my horse I sometimes sacrifice other things in my life it's a constant juggling act- how you manage with kids in the mix I don't know!

I guess what I'm saying is that winter is tough, focus on the new year and that spring and summer are just round the corner! Be thankful that you have a job and that it has nice workable hours, and don't worry about the weight im sure having two kids to run after keeps you fit as a fiddle! X
