I took Charisma to the school today, after a successful lesson on Friday

She was a bit of a moose to begin with, and very spooky (very windy + haylage bags = crazy horse!

) but after 15 minutes or so she went very well

So paid the school money, got collared by some liveries so stood around chatting for a few minutes but made my excuses and left for our yard.

She was behind the leg all the way home, I think she was waiting for haylage bags to jump out of the bushes

Anyway I got her home, put her in her stable after untacking and found that I had marked her with my right spur

The skin isn't broken, but there is a red/pink mark just by the girth area about 1/2 inch - 1 inch long

I feel awful! Please don't all have a go at me, I know it's bad
shocked.gif
but I have ridden in spurs for ages and this has never happened before

Sorry I just had to share my guilt

C's owner said not to worry, but I'm scared she thinks I'm ruining her horse! Oh no poor CC

I cleaned it up and put some purple spray on it....I have a lesson on Friday I might leave the spurs at home?!

((((HUGS))))

clearly you didnt mean for it to happen, maybe your were tencing up due to her spook earlier etc, just make sure in future you dont turn your toes out.

Pssss, don’t tell but I have done exactly the same with Bodey when trying a bit too much to get medium trot, didn’t realise until I got off. I just didn’t use the spurs for awhile, the hair grew back very quickly. I just didn’t tell anyone and covered it up with wound powder, so I’m worse then you!
shocked.gif

I now use roller ball spurs and never mark him, however I don't go for it quite as much. My poor boy!

Well, I kind of feel a bit better that someone else has done it
tongue.gif
but I am a big softy, my instructor says I'm too soft
smirk.gif
so I feel horrible! Poor C looked at me when I got off as if to say "wheres my Mummy"
blush.gif

Am I one of those horrible riders that mark their horse

Oh I might have to go up there tomorrow to give her some pampering lol

Done it, worn the guilt and hung my head in total shame. Looks flipping awful on a grey and to compound the thing the wee tiny scab that i made fell off and left what looked like a flaming red paint mark!!!

NEVER done it since!

I only wear spurs for schooling and jumping, she finds school work oh so boring and she makes it quite difficult for me to get her going anywhere

You'd think for a tb she would be quite forward going but she can be quite lazy.

Maybe I take the spurs off, and go back to basics - have her respecting my leg more? Without the use of spurs? Like I said I have a lesson on Friday so I will explain all to my instructor. It's a jump lesson which wakes her up normally

Its probably because his coat is falling out.Every year my horse has mark and bald patch at the end of his numnah and small rub where I leg on,apart from this year as he is a field ornament. Some horses coats are thinner and its like exfoliating dont beat yourself up.
grin.gif

Yeah but it's quite bald, and pink

She is a tb with fine hair and sensitive skin, so I just need to be more gentle and more schooling lol. She finds school work uninspiring
tongue.gif
so I think schooling in one of the farmers fields out hacking would have her sharper
