I have put three out of four of my horses in rugs except my cob he retired and overweight. Im sure he thinks their my favorites. He keeps looking at me with rain pouring of him god i feel bad. The others are wb tb and spanish does anyone else do this and feel really bad.

None of mine are in rugs yet. My cob and Shetland are fat and won't be having rugs until it's really cold, but I do feel a little guilty about my 30yo pony. But she is also pretty fat and is growing a nice fluffy coat, whilst her field mate, who has a rug on, will probably feel the cold more come the "real" winter as his coat won't have grown as well.

My ID X Hippo is still rugless she does not need one, what you must try and remember is that they have a coat on already it is hard but I will carry on with it as along with diet and exercise it is a good way to reduce the weight. My girl only has to look at a blade of grass and puts on weight, so you are doing the right thing try and be strong, its hard when every one else is putting rugs on but just think you are doing this for the good of your horse, so do not feel bad. :)

Yup! I have one on, one off! TBxConnie mare has just had a rug on last night for the first time, as she will be rugged over winter. My semi-retired ArabxWelsh gelding is rug-less and will remain so - he's such a good doer, and grows such a thick coat, but at this time of year I do feel a bit guilty even though I know its the right thing.
Oh and it makes it worse that she is wearing his old rug! :o
