Took my 3 out for their usual walk. We drive to local park. Had our walk, back in car and on way home. Along a quiet residential street, and I see a dog standing on the pavement looking lost. Stop car, have a good look around and can’t see anyone. Wait a couple of mins, no sign of anyone. Park car and get out with a slip lead. Dog runs to me, so I stand still, and he seems friendly. He has a harness on and a tag. Pop lead on him and have a look. No phone number, just address of the street I’m in. Guy on a bike comes along, I ask him if he knows the address. He apologises that he doesn’t. We go for a walk and I find the house, curtains all closed, I knock quietly on door. (It’s about half 5 this morning). Don’t know what to do, so decide I’ll have to take dog home with me. No further thoughts as to what next, and I leave for work at 6.

On way back to car, I see a lady looking distressed with a lead in hand. She was crying and panicking. She’d seen a man on a bike and asked if he’d seen a white dog, he said there was a lady with one looking for an address. All ended well thankfully.

I did suggest might be worth putting phone number on tag. If I’d taken him home, I could have kept phoning until I got hold of someone.
