What to do??

We contacted the dog warden and she is going to call if anyone contacts them. D is going to take them to the vets tomorrow for a check and see if they've been chipped.

Not sure how long they've been lost for but I'm pretty sure they both have mange:-( will they be ok around my dogs?

From asking around I think they might be traveller dogs... They seem a bit mistreated and I don't want them to go back to a bad home!:(

They've maybe dumped and/or stolen, well done for taking them in x

Dog warden, cops, DogLost would usually be the first port of call, see what the vet thinks.

If they have parasites maybe best to keep them separate from your guys for a while.

I really want to keep them now!!! Do looked after dogs ever get mange or just strays? They aren't skinny or anything but then I guess with a million rabbits around three have probably been able to catch some stuff?

They are far from wild but were nervous to begin with. If they have a nice home then of course I want them.to find it but if not... I'd rather keep them myself!:-/

Looked after dog do indeed get mange, yours will have it soon man:D:p
Nothing stopping you from hanging onto if the dog warden is ok with it.
You can get them scanned to rule of them being pre stolen and keep an eye on dog lost.
I suspect they may have been dumped because of the mange, I had a puppy lurcher here not long agao thrown from a car (he was covered in mange) it would be expensive for them to treat but very easy all the same depending on the type of mite.
Healthy dogs can carry the mite it's only when the dog is under the weather or immunity taxed that they begin to show symptoms:)

Ps, unsanitary keeping and overcrowding can also see the spread of or higher instance of mange, esp where the dogs are stressed, like puppy farms.

Awwwwww! The little boy is just so cute! He just wants to sit with me/on my knee... Please let us live with u!!

How do I know how old they are?

Are there teeth pearly white or a bit stained, they may have been fed ****** and may look crap, but if nice and pearly then they will only be young, when you get em scanned ask the vet to check for ya.:)

Awwww, he so wants to live with you;)

Maybe they are not brother and sister actually. The boy has similar teath to Star and she's about 6. The girls are less manky and more white. Also, it's hard to tell because of his colouring but the boy is quite grey/white around his muzzle but the bitch had a dark muzzle. They are identical though otherwise!

Mange is definetly contagious, best course for treatment by a vet is advocate drops to the back of the neck and repeat every 4 weeks,if they have open sores which are weeping then medicated shampoos and creams will be advised, also anti inflamatrys with a steroid injection will be given as the skin becomes inflammed and irritated from scratching.I only know this as both my boys caught it from a neighbours dog and cost me a good price of £170 to have them treated luckily i caught it in early stages so they only had advocate and will be on it permanatly as mange is a disease as told by my vet.But already after 3 weeks they coats are back to normal and both dogs happy due to not scratching it can be caught by unhealthy conditions but also by other animals e.g foxes, rabbits.Hopefully they have early symptoms so it can be treated quickly.

Sorry forgot to add they were both on 1 anti inflam once a day for 5 days then 1 every other day and had the steriod injection there and then but advocate also does some worms which is an added bonus.

Well we have found the owner. They came down to the yard to look for them. No whippets for me then! Let's hope they haven't spread their mange to S&A! I'll keep an eye on them.
