I guess my cat must really love me?

My kitten, Sabbath, is growing up and has now discovered hunting. This morning he's excelled himself and brought me not one but five  voles which are neatly ranged on a mat in the utility room. Er, thank you Sabbath. Good work. He's managed to lose his collar so I am going to buy him another today, preferably with a huge bell!

I'm not sure there's a vole family left to feel sorry for.

Nice as it is to be loved i'm very happy that, thus far at any rate, Sammy and Simba haven't thought to bring us any presents.

I'm afraid that is what cats do i.e. kill rodents. I don't like it either and he has got a big bell on but he is a very good hunter it would appear. He is a rescue cat and I certainly can't return him to the animal welfare shelter because he is simply acting like a cat. My elderly Burmese has never killed a thing and my rescue tabby kills rodent from time to time. I doubt the voles were all from one family as every time I go out I nearly step on several so I am not sure that my cat is going to be responsible for genoicide!!

No you just have to accept that cats hunt and kill things they won't eat but for reason think that you might ..like shrews. However he eats the mice and voles he catches oh and rats..yuk!
. His mum only ever hunts insects, leaves and twigs and always looks a bit bemused when he's juggling small furries.

Yes, all the cats I've owned have had different habits. I have attached an even bigger bell to the youngster this week and it has certainly slowed down the rate at which he's catching things. I think that, because of the incredibly mild weather, there are more rodents about than ever. None of mine have ever caught a rat despite us being overrun by them a couple of years ago. Now that would have been useful!
