We have a swallow's nest right next to the front door and yesterday I found one of the parents headless on the path. The cat must have scaled the wall somehow and swiped it as it flew in. I haven't seen another adult now, and I don't think one parent can manage anyway. When I got the stepladder to have a peep I found five tiny, cold, bald little hatchlings. Very sad. I am guessing they will have died this morning. They were so small I don't think anything could have been done, they didn't even have a gape reflex. I half thought about putting them in the incubator but I don't think they had a chance.

Bl**dy cat, only got him for a mouser but I suppose that's the flip side. It's odd because he's never caught a garden bird and we have dozens on the bird table. Poor little swallows.

The swallows dive-bomb Kasper. They really take their life in their wings with that behaviour as a less wimpy cat could easily snatch them from the air as they go within easy grabbing distance. Did your swallows do that?

Poor chicks. :(
