Weather is doing my head in- I never know what rug to put my wussy horse (she hates flys). Was it this indecisive last year?

I put a LW rug on, its hot and sunny. Put her fly rug on, it chucks it down. Amnow feeling worried that she is going to be cold and wet.

Unfortunatly I am too far away to pop over to change rugs when the weather turns-its ok if someone else is at the yard, but not at 11pm when we have a thunder storm.

Do you think OH would let me keep her in the garden?

Yes I probably worry to much but first horse I have has who is really sensative to flies and needs to be rugged most of the time.

It is difficult because it is quite muggy too. I have given up worrying too much and leave mine to it without a rug unless it is due to be chilly and wet, then he has his rain sheet on. But my boy has access to a field stable 24/7 so he can go in there if it turns bad...although he never does!

mine are in at night, and out with LW rugs. It's rained every day for as long as I can remember, and they are such weaklings, my mare goes totally useless in the rain!

Mine are out at the moment in LW 24/7, but yesterday it turned really warm here so YO took rugs off, but they went back on last night. As for keeping your girlie in the garden, why not....

i know this weather is crap. frankie is out at night without a rug and in in the day, but with all this rain the hay is more expensive and sparse and he has lost two shoes in a week! and he only got them last week! his feet are so wet all the time that they are getting softer and softer xxx

I hate this weather too. Took fly sheet off last night as new it was going to be heavy rain today but was too hot to put rugs on and I find the light weights are usesless when the rain is this heavy anyway. So way too hot for medium weights, left them unrugged. Didn't get down this morning as had to be in work early, when I get home this afternoon the mare will probably be shivering! What do you do when you don't have a stable to put them in and its too damn hot for medium weights. Bloody weather. Must add - they're supposed to be HARDY (!!!) M&M types!!!! Forgive me while I choke laughing at that statement!!!!

Its just that it changes so much throughout the day, we can win with rugs. I'd love to leave mine unrugged but she really gets bitten by flies. Seeing as she has been in for ages, I dont want to start bringing her in again unless I really have too.

The shetlands wanted to come in today, more so than the TB's!
