Well after making spectacular progress I had a bit of a hiccup today with Mr T. We were out on a hack with my friend, who's horse has had a bit of a rough time recently so were only out for a gentle one. Tarquin was quite lively but nothing dangerous, the manic broncing I thought was distance memory of January. Anyway on the way home, he was on a mission so we were in front and as he is a little nappy even on the way home, as he naps to horses not home, he had had a few reminders from my lovely padded racing whip. So we were trotting up a hill and he was going beautifully, so my friend says 'I bet he's canter now really nicely if you asked' so I said 'yeah lets give it a go'. I asked and he obliged a few steps then trotted, cantered a few more, bronced a little and trotted on.
So I in my infinate wisdom, forgot I was not riding a horse from work and was not in school, gave him a gentle reminder on the shoulder. Well, f*ck me, he lurched right and proceeded to canter and bronc. I usually fall off if a horse goes right but somehow managed to stay on and sit up. But as I had not bridged my reins or had a hold on my neck strap, had no control and slowly he was gaining more rein and broncing bigger and bigger. I ended up on the buckle but still on, I had got to the point of bailing out as it was just going to end in tears, when he stopped. Stood still and sighed.
I gave him a pat and returned to my friend who was p*ssing herself laughing only because I had stayed on and she was expecting me to be on the ground as we used to end up.
I couldn't believe that I'd stayed on. He then walked home in calm fashion as though nothing had happened. I couldn't shut up, the adrenaline was flowing! But I hope atleast he has learnt that throwing his teddies out of pram did not achieve anything and that maybe the silly broncing is not productive anymore. He hasn't done it for 2 months to that extent and has come a long way. So I am atleast proud that he may finally be learning that he has to be ridden. Sorry for the self indulgent post, I am now in a little pain from a bad back aggrevaited by Mr T's antics and hoping that I will be ok for riding at work tomorrow as they will not be happy if I have a non-work related horsey injury!

Good for you!! Its a great feeling when they dont manage to get the better of you isnt it, reading this was all too familiar for me and made me chuckle i too cant stop yacking away shakng with the adreneline rush afterwards. I always think that its a good thing people laugh when it happens to me or else sometimes I think i could cry!
Im sure you'll cure his broncing in the end, good luck and well done you!
