Ok if you know me, yes I need another horse.

this is number five, he will be one in may, he is a warmblood colt. He is standing at 12.2 at the moment to make 15.2, I have had him since friday, I got him off a breeder.

sorry for the photo overload, please tell me what you think. I know what I think, help and advice is wecome.

Looks a little poor in the pictures - sure you will sort that out! but nice foal, quite flashy... and my money is on that he will creep on a bit from 15.2 if he is already 13.2..!

In my limited experience, he's very poor at the moment, which may well knock back his rate of maturing over the next year or two, but he should catch up with himself eventually. Check him for mites too. IMO don't stuff him full of food, last thing you want is OCD, but maybe speak to one of the nutritional helplines about a balancer for him to help him make up any deficiencies he has?

I agree he needs a bit more condition, and weight really as his topside is a little poor for my liking.

His markings etc however are stunning he will surely make a beautiful grown up boy! :)

And I agree......... prob gonna pass 15.2 me thinks! :)

poor wee soul, doesn't look the best at the moment does he? I would do a worm test/worm as appropriate and let the spring grass do it's trick. His feet look like they have been well attended to. I think under that fluff there is a stunning boy - with those markings he will be rather flashy! Are the bald patches rain scald or lice?

Argh, I don't like this not being able to edit!! Wanted to say that I meant lice, not mites! And I forgot to say that I think he's going to be a stunner once he's fixed up!

Beautifully marked, looking forward to pics of him with a summer coat and some good spring grass :D

All the other replies have been quite moderate, and I have no experience with wintered-out youngstock so I am not at all qualified to say, but I must admit I gasped when I saw the pics :o Is being that 'boney' and generally scurfy looking typical of a youngster?

Condition issues aside he looks like he might be really quite flash with his stockings and blaze once he has grown into himself :)

Thank you for your replies

He is very thin, you are able to feel the bones behind is ears because he is so thin grooming him is not nice as there is nothing there. He does have rain scaled we are treating him for lice and he is being wormed. I have spoke to two feed companies and am going with what they said.

On the plus side he just floats his trot is wonderful, he likes the children and is not very coltish. That can change and i am sure it will once he is up to speed.

mucky meach
this is my other warmblood cross, the dun one the other is a dartmoor hill pony , he has been stabled through the winter, but still has a very thick coat.
weight wise avocardo (the kids picked the name) weighs 220kg the dun one weighs 230kg
