I think it might increase susceptibility but not cause.

have known a couple who come out in bad mudfever when circumstances have changed.

so here it is,ive had my lad just over 2 years,to my knowladge he has never had one before.
so back last year we had 2 new horses go into the field and within 2 days he was hopping lame(abcess) then later on that year 1 new horse arrives again hopping lame yes another abcess so 2 last year both in the same foot !!

well 2 new horses arrived saturday and today my lad is yep you guessed it hopping lame another abcess in other front foot !!!

my lad likes to look after the other oldies in the field but doesnt go over the top he pulls faces and trots at them then goes back to the others but he will stand there on guard to make sure new horses dont come over,he isnt a nasty horses and is a big softy to the extent that trying to get him out of the field tonite was funny it took 20 mins just to get him to the gate when he spotted me he started waving his foot around,i had to push his back end to get him to walk and that was a job and a half,17hh warmblood is heavy lol !!

coincidence ? im not so sure !

New horses = charging around = solar bruising = abscesses as a result

Cut out cereals and any sugars, including mollasses - sugar makes abscesses and tendencies towards them worse
