Walking Rosie (my lab) this morning in the woods when we were joined by a young black lab (dog) there were other walkers around and so thought nothing of it, thinking he belonged to one of them. However he followed me all the way home and tried to get in to the house ( I live about 50yds from the woods) I walked him back up to the woods and asked the group I had seen earlier if he was theirs, which he wasn't. I knocked on the door of another house along the track and he was nothing to do with them but had apparently been running around since about 5 am this morning. He had a collar on but no tag.

Took him home and rang the dog warden/police/vets to see if anyone had reported him missing, no one has. The vets couldn't find a microchip in him. Took him home and here he is. I've checked on doglost.com etc. and no one has reported anything.

One of the ladys who lives a few doors down from us thinks she may know him, they had a rescue dog about 6 months ago from a local shelter but had to give him back as he too much for them and their much older dog. We rang the shelter but there was no answer.

He is quite young, I would guess around 1 year old, I think he has been neutred, its quite hard to tell thought as he hasn't actually sat still long enough for me to check. He has a pretty boxy head which makes me think he may possibly have a little bit of staffy in him aswell. I don't think he iss pure bred lab. he is pretty skinny.
My little sister has named him Trevor. So we now have Trevor and Rosie. Oh dear.

Have you tried your local radio station? When we found a dog running loose on the road the radio station gave it out, and we reunited dog and owner within a couple of hours, probably more people listening to morning radio but worth a try.

The council have to come and get him in the morning but my Mum is going to say to them that if no one claims him or he can't be rehomed we will have him or find him a home. I have just had a good look at him no he's totally zonked out at my feet;

I am almost certain he's lab x staffie and I also think he might be anaemic. He has black gums, black inside his ears which are very very dry

Bless him I hope his owners are found or if not he gets a really good home

I'd have thought most rescue centres would microchip before rehoming a dog nowadays, good luck with either finding his owner or adopting him etc.... Try local vets in the area too in the morning. With regard to name, love Trevor but wouldn't rosie and jim be good!!! (oh god you can tell I have kids!!!)

The council dont have to take him if your willing to keep him, the owners have 7 or 10 days to claim him and you must register him with the police and dog warden thats the law. Our council is useless with dogs and most get lost in the system

have you reg as found on doglost? the best thing to do is put some posters up around your area but put very little is the description so if someone rings they can prove he is their dog ( you get a few people saying its there dog when its not )

If you decide to keep him at home instead of letting the warden take him you have to keep him for 28 days before he's yours, or you can reserve him at the pound and pay their fee to rehome him after 7 days, but I'd visit him often to check he doesn't slip through the cracks if you really want him. Let us know what happens

Good News Guys, the warden came and collected him first thing this morning, he is a 'regular' as such. His name is Charlie and he lives about a mile and a half away, it is the 6th time this year he has escaped.
