basically as title

i gave in and rugged last night. it was 6 degree but raining and windy.

i have been trying to persuade myself to wait till it was 5 degrees but that is what it is tonight and its 2 degrees tomorrow so i did and didnt give in.

shes not clipped and shes a sport horse doing a good teddy bear impression. :):)

sorry title is suppose to say given in and rugged ooppps

:) I will not give in, I will not give in, I will not give in lol. Mine have a lot of high hedges for shelter and they were both warm this morning although I don't think it rained much as it was quite dry. They are still in their summer paddock too :)

mines still in her summer bit and she has a field shelter and hedges but i only gave in a day early lol just wonted to share my guilt. i did try so hard.

I'd like mine in for ease of doing them in the dark mornings (hate doing the torch/wheelbarrow pooh-picking & wont leave it for weekend!)

But....... they WILL be out till lots of snow/days of torrential rain or beginning December - whatever comes 1st :)
They have shelters, as well as plenty of hedge & tree lined boundaries.

I did put them in a tiny paddock tonight to get it down enough for the smallest fuzzy to start dieting (again!) over this coming weekend - and its quick for me to do tomorrow morning as need to be into work early :)

My two section A mares have been in for about two weeks at night simply because its too dark in the morning to poo pick! My shetland is in too as of tonight as he has sweated heavily after free schooling him this evening and wouldn't dry off!

I dont 'mind' the pooh-picking' with nice torch, its just the long walk up to the top summer paddocks in the pitch dark at 6am at present that miffs me off :o

Angie&Ben - I have a head torch & also a wind up one that I've got clipped to my poop-scooper large plastic shovel - brilliant it is.... maybe I should patent it :D

Hey-ho, only another 12 days till the clocks change  :D

well i gave in today also and fetched in my boy...he is a wimpy Tb who was clipped 3weeks agoa lthough nearly grown out now. He will stay in tomorrow aswell as its to be very cold. But once it warms up he will go back outside!! Poor boy he loves being out but he is such a wuss!!

I caved today and slapped a rug on after a hailstorm so violent it set my car alarm off three times - he's still out though. Horse not in the slightest bit grateful; I took it off to give him a brush down at tea time and got nipped when I put it back on! He can have it back off during the day tomorrow but it's going to be a horrible night up here.

Our old boys rug has been on and off more times than i can count in the last couple of weeks, its back on again now. The rest will have to wait until the weather is much worse for their rugs, all being hardy types. They have a good thick hedge and a couple of trees for shelter, field owner is putting up a shelter for the old lad.

Mine are in and rugged at night and there out and rugged during the day.

This is only because I recently purchased a youngster who had come straight from the field so been getting him into a routine.

But all the horses on the yard have now started coming in on a night from last week.

two in the field next to mine are unrugged but both arnt in work and one is pregnant so they have sort of been left feral. the other in the field that is in work is clipped and rugged.

Chucked a fleece on the pony tonight (unclipped D gelding, right weight), don't want him to drop any weight and he's been a bit tucked up overnight in the stable, presume because he can't move about like he can in the field. He'll stay naked in the field until he's clipped though or unless he starts to drop weight.

I have also given in this week and rugged, only rain sheets though.

I am on clay so if we have much more rain the decision will be out of my hands they will have to come in. Arggh the thought of 3 stables to muck out every morning.

Added to which finances haven't allowed a bedding purchase as yet, went to suppliers today he has a new cheaper stuff called safemix but I've never heard of it.

Mine are still out with a shelter. I only rug the wimpy one if it is wet as I want him to grow more of a coat this winter.
They will come in when it starts getting wet to save the paddocks but they will stay out as long as poss.

Mine's still out 24/7 but I DID give in last night and switch from my lite Amigo combo to the medium Amigo combo rug. Mine's a WBxTB and has a blanket clip. When I went up last night she was quite warm enough under her lite weight rug, even though it had dropped to 6 degrees already. It did drop to 4 over night though, with a bit of wind and rain, so I felt better knowing she was upgraded! I wont bring in until the YO says we HAVE to - due to really, REALLY, soggy ground.
