Well actually it wasn't me but OH. I was bemoaning that soaking hay in this cold weather is impossible and other half suggested dunking nets in bin for an hour, no time to freeze, a quick drip on yard and then bring in to downstairs shower to finish off. Fantastic!

Doesn't take the sugar out but at least prevents him coughing. Saves me feeding haylage which is more expensive.

My OH is very tolerant.

I shove mine in a dustbin, pour two kettles of boiling water over it, stick the lid on and leave it while I bring in, make up feeds, faff about - it comes out dust free, damp, and needing no draining (and nice and warm!)

I'm literally hosing mine down for 7/8 minutes and making sure they'll wet all the way through then leaving them to to drip while i do my jobs... doesn't extract much of the sugar, but yes certainly keeps the 'dry hay' coughing at bay at the moment!

Needs must in this weather i guess. Just gratefully the hosepipe is still running... keep it trickling away 24/7 at the moment so it doesn't freeze on us.

Fortunately he's doing ok too and relishing a tastier bit of hay than normal!

At least you only have hay in your downstairs bathroom, I had 17 ducklings living in my shower a couple of weeks ago :D

Fortunately I don't have to soak hay.
