I feel a bad cat mum. I live alone and not many visitors to my house, and my cats (2 now elderly - 17- sisters) are wary of other people, tend to scarper/hide if someone comes in, even the neighbour to feed.

This is now not helping when the 2 of them are on different medication or I'm going to need help with pills...

Plus I need to put a cone on one. The vets wouldn't do it this morning as i assume first they forgot (as they did for applying flea treatment) and when I went back in from the car park, she was too stressed (!).

They were unable to take bloods as she was too spicy/stressed.

So my aim of avoiding/reducing stress to my elderly cat failed....

Plus I'm away for a few days from Sat... so can't regulate which cat gets what....

Stress....

Don't envy you that. Our cat has only been ill once and It was virtually impossible for the vet to do anything at all with him and I couldnt give him meds. They are such awkward squirmy scratchy little things.

If they are at all food oriented and like fish, I recommend wrapping pills in a bit of smoked salmon. Worked a treat with my late cat, who wasn’t the easiest to give pills to until I came up with that trick. It’s also worked with my current cat when he was on antibiotics following his neutering.

Thanks for your comments. Life was further complicated by me now being away and having to rely on my very kind neighbour to sort feeding, and not helped by both cats running out/hiding when others come in the house (even the v kind neighbour who has always fed them)

And I was a bad mother, and compressed 7 days antibiotics into 4.5 days!

All vets gave me was 'counsel of perfection', without advising in real life/constraints of my life. I guess that's vets....

You can only do your best. My Hooligan Cat is very itchy, and licking until the fur comes out. No fleas, wormed for tapeworm, but rolls around in the flower bed where there is an ant nest. I tried to apply some anti fungal cream to the lesions. He cleared the kitchen in two bounds and almost took the catflap with him. I share your pain.
