Been out hunting today, and as I cantered a field I was struck with the thoughts of how much I do adore my horse, and how bloody lucky I am to be able to hunt, and canter around the countryside watching hounds work, stop for a breather, chat with like minded people, sip some port, and go again. Hunting really opens the countryside up to us (we hunted today on fields which we are not allowed to hack on, or go near) and it allows people from all walks of life to get out there and enjoy their horses, the fresh air and nature.

So, I love my horse as she give me the opportunity to hunt without hitting the deck or having my arms hauled out of their sockets

Why do you love yours?

'Coz its the same as yours! I can hunt all day without being tugged about. Shes very sweet even if shes lacking in some brain departments.

Because he will always look after me, I know when going towards a jump we are going to go over it whatever. I trust him completely
laugh.gif
I also love that anyone can ride him, and anyone can handle him, he is a completely safe family horse

Sounds like a day in heaven!!

I love my horses because they have given me the opportunity to realise my dreams. Fee has taken me from jumping unaffiliated to newcomers in just under two years, she has taught me the ropes and i owe her everything! I love wester because he has made me realise i AM capable of jumping round the bigger tracks...and that finally i might be able to jump round a fox!

Most of all i love my OH...for helping me buy/keep/train/compete said horses and get me closer to my dreams.

N xx

because he's cute and cuddly and is always there if i need him if i've had a bad day!!
smile.gif

i love hacking him in the warm sunshine in the summer and the cosiness of the stables in winter!!

Good post. Nice to see you so positive about P.

Bit early for me really as we are in such early stages but I also love opportunities my mare gives me. Last year we did a lot of showing (not my thing) and learnt a lot. I never imagined I would compete at county level and LOVE her for behaving so well and was so proud of her coming 1st and 2nd in her classes.

I love the fact she is so cuddly and patient with me when I am fannying around with heel trimming, mane pulling, etc etc. Its a lot for a baby. I also adore the fact I can kiss her on her nose as much as I want and she puts up with it (Viento didn't enjoy the kissing thing)!

I love that, even though we haven't done much, the ground work is coming along and I can see her mind working and figuring it all out and, most of all the way she trusts me.

Lastly (if you are all still awake) I love the fact that we are right at the begining of our career together and I get very excited about the thought of getting out and competing.

after owning my boy for 10 months, I have realised that i love him, for helping me regain my confidence after a nasty fall & injury 4 years ago. he looks after me when I'm brave enough to hack out and in our lesson today we did a tiny jump. I love him to bits and our journey has just begun. he's with me for life now.

Just wanted to say what a lovely feelgood post Weezy
smile.gif
I don't do anything much with our horses, as I am just the groom in my daughters absence, but love them anyway !

Coz, he always 'talks' to me (I can just about call his name at anytime and he'll whinney!). Plus he's such a superstar in competition turns but always more than happy to plod around the block when I'm riding!!

After hunting today I threw my arms around my OH and said the same to him

I love his enthusiasm for everything he does (well, excluding dressage, but that's probably my fault!) and the fact that I can trust him 100% when we jump - he is very forgiving of my numpty moments!

I do envy you though Weezy, sounds like you had a fab day. The one thing I can't do mine is hunt. He leaves his brain in the trailer, bucks, obsesses with getting to the front, knocks other horses out the way to get past and tries to kick everything within range. We gave it up before he was issued with an ASBO.

Oh bad luck Hullabaloo

I admit that I don't think I could own a horse that wouldn't hunt, and have sold on ones who have not taken to it. I didn't mention the very itchy horse I had today, the head tossing, the full body shaking or the banana-neck-oh-look-my-yard-I-want-to-go-there-NOW moments, but hell, no horse is perfect! P isn't as competitive as I am, and mostly I am really mean about her, but today I thought no, I am so, so lucky to have a horse to do something I feel so passionately about with.

God, I am blabbering, and I promise the port is well out of my system now, it must be adrenaline LOL!

I love my young riding horse for loads of reasons but right at this moment because I've just got home from Somerford Park's winter ride and she was super. Went all on our own and she didn't nap and she never pulls.

I can't help thinking she's too good for me.

And aren't we horse people lucky that we have that, it cannot be described really, can it, to people who don't *do* horses
smile.gif

because he loves me back. he is the most affectionate horse on the planet. he wouldnt hurt anyone. i love him soooo much. he is abit of a puff sometimes tho

Lovely positive post
laugh.gif
. Thanks Weezy.

I love my mare because she is so honest and has forgiven all my wrongs. We have been through so much together and she has never in the slightest let me down or failed to make me smile. She is safe for anyone and so talented and totally wasted on me, but the best bit, she doesn't care about being wasted on me and is still happy to see me every day

Me too, most of it wouldn't be possible without him. Not only does he believe in each and every one of the neds, he believes in me and my ability which is a great feeling to have, especially when the cards are down.

I love all of mine (4
blush.gif
) equally, but in different ways; Krypto is so intelligent and affectionate and BIG!! Harry has paid me back tenfold without even having to - he has never owed me anything and yet he gives his all. Kia is gorgeous, such a pretty girl and clever and loving with it. We are going to have such a fab partnership, she is so trusting and I can't wait to really get out there and do stuff with her.

I love Bailey for being so, well, "special." I love him for always being able to cheer me up, and because he is my best friend. I hate that he is having such a miserable time atm, but he just willingly carries on and keeps going. He is the sweetest, most loving and loyal little horse I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and he isn't even 2. There is something about him that makes me feel as though he is my horse of a lifetime, and he will never be going anywhere else unless it is with me.

Oh he took to it - with a bit too much enthusiasm.
laugh.gif

I can't afford to hunt much at the moment anyway, so its not a big deal - just every now and again I miss it.
I know what you mean though - I'd feel the same about a horse who didn't jump.

What a nice post
smile.gif

I love mine because despite what I throw at her (sometimes literally
blush.gif
) she always tries her hardest and is just SO safe. I can walk her round the local "galloping field" and be passed by strings of P2Pers and people having trouble with horses strapped down in draw reins etc..... and my horse will walk on a long rein, no fuss
smile.gif
She also looks after my mum, which is a huge plus as she can be very nervous but I trust Maiden 100% with her.
So despite the fact that I shall never be allowed to jump or school her again, and I will never get to go XC on her (the one thing I REALLY wanted to do), I am glad in a way that she is broken as I can never sell her now, and I will get to be with her for the rest of her days
smile.gif

Nice to hear you're having a good time with Porridge Weezy - They definitely don't have to be world beaters to be bloody good horses do they!
grin.gif

I love H because... we've been to hell and back and got through the other side! After almost 6 years together I can honestly say that I know that mare inside out - and we're finally buddies!
smile.gif
She's no world beater but she's the best mare ever - she never changes when I ride her - however long she's had off work - she's still the same old H!
smile.gif
I've done more with her than I thought I would with any horse (and 6 years ago I was going to sell her as we clashed like cymbols!!!

I love my pony because he is a little star! He has a fabulous temperament and is lovely to ride. He is safe but fun, steady but responsive. He really is a pony in a million and I wouldn't swap him for the world!
smile.gif

I love my horse because he puts up with me, whatever I do to him. He'll let me put bows in his mane and just giving him cuddles, he would never stop at a jump, I always feel safe on him, I can just hop on him bareback in a headcollar and plod around, he doesn't get scared when I do, we enjoy the same things, he looks after his rider, he doesn't mess around when other horses do, he's handsome, he floats across the ground. I could go on and on. I think he's the perfect horse for me and I'm lucky to have him.

I love Melly cus she really trusts me, she was so nervous and tense when I got her, and now I can clean her eyes and ears, crawl under her, poke and prod her and she is totally chilled! I can long rein her out and she piaffes and passages acting like a stallion, but still stays light and responsive to the hand ans totally safe. I love that my Dad and non horsey OH and best friend can handle her and do anything with her and she just plods along going with the flow. shes my baby, no matter what people think of her, shes the best!! x

Because i know i can walk around a open field at my pace without worrying about anything.
He doesn't mind if i don't ride for 6 weeks, he's the same ride as he was when ridden 4 times a week.
He's a grumpy old man who puts a smile on my face
smile.gif

I love my pony as everyone wrote him off except bubba and in return for her trust and love he looks after her!
And, since having him I have got out of the house more and even managed to become a semi sane member of the public! Not so heavily medicated for the safety of the masses!!!

Lovey post..... I will be hunting with my boy next season as I've only had him 4 months and am getting back to riding again after a break of ??? many years.....But the reason I particularly love this horse that I have the God given grace to own is because he has given me my life back.....sorry if that sounds a bit dramatic but for me that's the truth of it X

I love my pony because he always makes me smile, even when he's naughty I find myself trying not to giggle at his antics. He looks after me and is cuddly and cute and has a massive personality - he has his own opinions about everything!! He's such a character!
