I hope this sweet little pony finds a good home

How very sad :( God only knows what his life will end up like - check homes all you want dear seller, but what happens when the £50 is in the bank, and pony's in the trailer ??

Going to cause HUGE contraversy here and say the poor chap should be loaned out as a regularly CHECKED companion or PTS. Putting pics of him jumping on will not help one bit.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm with you Twinkle Shy. I am disgusted with this owner.
This is the 2nd equine this week that I've read about where the owner is hoping that someone else will rehab it. Why won't people take responsibility for their own animals?

No you are not going to cause controversy that is being realistic. This owner does not care but just wants £50 and thats all their pony is worth to them. Shame on them. "forgot to add laminitis etc.............." they are joking, amazing.
Turn out and leave alone and trim feet this little fella sounds like thats all has going for it.Poor little thing. My blood is boiling reading this advert.

Glad it's not just me who thinks this is disgraceful.

What makes it even worse is that he is priced at £50 ONO - like if someone offered £30 they might accept. Just awful.

He is only down the road from me :(

perhaps the money is a token gesture rather than a fixed fee for him, it would be worse if someone had put 'free to good home'. Its a shame he can't be kept but perhaps they are not in a position to do so and buy their daughter a new pony...?? I've read plenty on here that would get rid of dead wood.

I've bought a couple of very cheap horses that needed time out and they have both come right. Sometimes people don't have the space or facilities to turn away for a couple of years them selves and if vet thinks he has a good chance of coming right it seems a shame to PTS.

I find it strange how the vet has conveniently not mentioned the pony coming right within the vets report, it seems to only be the owners opinion.

Funny that.

Good homes are out there, iv taken on a old, blind in 1 eye companion to live his life out and my friends have taken others in the past. He might find a good home or a bad home but that goes for any horse that's up for sale. You can never say they will not get a good home and iv sold a bloody nice horse before who ended up in a rescue center who rung me for history.

The ad reads as if they have their own land - they already have 3 retired apparently. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be able to accomodate another. And as for 'they can't afford to buy the daughter another pony' - oh dear perhaps daughter will have to learn that animals are living creatures, not bikes and if they are 'broken' you can't just throw them away and get another. I'm certainly not in the pts camp but I'm definitely in the 'look after it yourself after you've broken it' camp.

So true; amazing what a year or two in a field without all the shock therapy, steroids and the rest of the crap sold to horse-owners by the "caring" veterinary industry can do for a horse. Time, a decent farrier and a vet who is not out to rip you off, can do wonders.

I agree. What I don't understand is why the present owners can't do that, instead of expecting someone else to take the risk.

The pony is only 20 mins from me. When we had a pony advertised for companion/light hack back in summer this perosn selling this pony emailed us asking if we would give him to her & when we said no loan home only she replied saying she was moving abroad within the year so hoped we found him a nice home, she is always advertising horses. Sadly we lost our pony few months later :(

I'm with twinkle shy & pearlsacarolsinger. I couldn't care less if they need to buy the daughter another or what their circumstances are, they should take responsibility for the pony. So selfish.

Selfish. Should have thought about this poor boy before buying more horses for the daughter.
If he was closer to me i would snap him up, with a year turned out in our fields and some love he could be a wonderful pony next year.
Poor thing :'(

That is EXCELLENT news if the seller has seen this post ! It's about time owners realised that a horse needs care when well (and of use to them) AND when ill (and of no use to them). You DO NOT sell on a currently unusable pony with old jumping photos in the ad - how stupid is that

So dear seller, I hope that the little chap now has room in one of your fields (albeit with a muzzle on to keep his lami at bay), as he has served you well from the look of the pics.

Very interesting. Bit of jackanory. Glad you picked up on them. Cheeky monkies no interest in their horse at all. Poor petal daughter....how will she cope.Bless her.

Funny because I also recognise their username from looking at previous adverts for various horsey things on preloved. I'm glad they saw this thread, maybe it will make them rethink their appalling advert. They also have another pony for full loan.
