and yesterday.....just to see what he was like

I took him across the road to a jumping clinic, to be honest i was slightly nervous because I don't do much jumping, although i enjoy it, and Frankie hasn't done any since I have been riding him
shocked.gif
I just wanted to concentrate on his flatwork
wink.gif
Lots of people around his old livery yard were like
crazy.gif

If i said I wanted to jump Frankie - and they took delight in telling me a bunch of horror stories

Anyway he was FINE -
grin.gif
grin.gif
no sillyness, except a couple of mishaps where i had a crap trot into the jump and he jumped it with his legs out in front of him

smirk.gif
but even when that happened and he drifted left to the nest jump he still jumped it
cool.gif
cool.gif
even though he jumped it about 4 foot
shocked.gif
but i stayed on!! What can i say, my seat and balance have improved

Apparently I didn't give enough with my hands over some jumps, so everytime I came to a jump I'd just say to myself 'give hands' (I know, laugh at me all you want I am a saddo)

sometimes i do think that perhaps I'm not the rider for him, and he can be too much for me
frown.gif
because he can be quite tightly wound and tense, and it does worry me sometimes
crazy.gif
but when saying all that I think we make a good little team

Sounds like a clear cut case of jealousy to me! They are obviously worried you will start to do better than them....

Glad you had a good time - jumping's fun when you've got a horse that doesn't want to throw you on the floor
grin.gif

PS...I say 'give hands..give hands' before every fence too, especially if I've not jumped for a while...(don't tell anyone though...!!

hehe i won't tell

one of the stories i was told was that Frankie hit the wing, then bucked his rider off into an electric fence
shocked.gif
smirk.gif
mmm he obviously didn't have my balance

hehe

must remember 'give hands'
