After over three years out of work, and the vets telling me last year that she would have to be retired as a broodmare, I popped a little crosspole on her today
!!! I say popped, she had other ideas and launched herself 2 stides out and about 1m10 over it
and then took off around the arena
, but by the fourth time she jumped it properly and came back to a lovely collected canter
. She's quite rusty and needs a lot of polework and grids but she was sooo happy to see a jump again and there was NO hint of lameness/unlevelness/heat/soreness
Despite everyone saying having a foal would calm her down, it has NOT and she was as buzzy as ever and back to her usual neurotic self
. I've missed riding her so much and I think I'm going to enter her in a local unaff combined training in a couple of weeks
I can only imagine how excited she'll be, the only place she's been in the last three years is the stud to get covered twice and 4 trips to the veterinary hospital
and she was always hyper at shows anyway, even when she was out every week. I can't wait
Sorry for the very self indulgent post but I never thought I would see the day and it just goes to show that even though you have to trust the vets, you know your horse best
