i jumped my youngster for the first time today!

i did some polework with him a few weeks ago and then today we went for a group gridwork lesson and he was such a good boy! the weather was awful (think monsoon) and there were 2 other horses in the lesson- and he hasn't ever really worked in a group before. we did mostly grids with a few raised poles and then a teeny x pole at the end. he trotted over this a couple of times and then slammed the brakes on when came in canter and i hit the deck

but then got back on and trotted over a couple more times and then cantered again and he was fine! i think he was just a bit confused the first time and not sure what to do with his legs! the great thing was that all the people watching were making really nice comments about how nice he was and how well he was going

very indulgent post i realise...but i love my little horsey! its his 4th birthday tomorrow so he's getting a day off in the field to celebrate

i bet he's fast asleep now! i had to lunge before i got on and then lesson was actually quite long for baby horses (but did have lots of walking breaks in between grids) so i bet his little brain is tired now!

i really like it

don't really know anyone's names yet but they seem a friendly bunch which is all i wanted

horses seem to have settled fine, although my TB gave me a bit of a scare yesterday

he stuffed his face with haylage and grass and looked a bit colicky last night but after walking him about for an hour he's poo'd a couple of times and was obviously feeling a bit better- altho tummy like a barrel!
crazy.gif
he seemed fine today but i kept him in for the day and will put him back out tomorro....baby horse seems fine- he's been playing out in the field with his new pals and worked well in the school and been for a hack out with his nanny horse and was well behaved
cool.gif
Definitely think i've made the right decision!

On Thursday one of the clique from old yard came up to new place to ask about prices and things like that...how strange?!!
