So. Following on from my recent "I think I just bought a trailer"....I just bought an Isuzu Trooper 3.0L AARRGHHH.

Please everyone tell me how wonderful they are etc etc?

I went from excited to scared very quickly!!

I pick it up next week.

It is a 2002 model, leather heated seats, air con etc etc, the important things in life oh and of course a tow pack!

So...I have to now sell my wonderful little freelander if you know of anyone? Top spec, leather stuff, tow bar etc etc, just serviced blah blah. I am going to miss it loads but it just isnt strong enough for what I want to do now.

I have a 3 litre 2000 trooper and it is great,. mine is the citation so has heated seats but they are not leather. You must have the insignia model i think they call it. mine is TD and does about 30mpg, pulls everything is great in snow and ice. I did have to have a new exhaust this year but this is the first thing in 2 years.

Yes mine is the Insignia model. New brakes & exhaust recently yay! 70,000k & 11 services, last one at 68,000k. I am thinking of going green laning in it too! Thank u...I am excited.now but...easy to park?!

I'm on my 3rd Isuzu now, bloody love them, wouldn't have any other car...

It's 17 years old, i regularly do 300 miles a week for work and horses

When we moved yards a couple of months ago I loaded up 500kg of rubber matting in the boot and drove through a flooded brook/river, easy peasy...

Very easy to parallel park - just remember the turn ratios you did in your driving test, is just the same....

Turn ratios? Driving test? Gosh....1993 seems a long time ago haha! I remember being anxious when I got my freelander, a week in & worry forgotten. Hopefully the same with this but it's alot bigger!!!

I hope you checked it's had the cambelt changed! :D

I would also take it to ISUZU and check it has had its recall done. They had a problem with injectors failing and fuel getting into the oil and then the truck runs itself. This was recitifed by a recall whcih ISUZU will still honour. All you need to do is take the truck to ISUZU and they will chjeck it has the right injectors and if it hasnt then they change it etc all free of charge. Turning circle is a piece of piss. I park mine easier than my VW.

O shush you. Mine needs doing but I'm trying not to think about it *sticks fingers in ears and goes la la la*

:D

I did that too with my first lorry. It chose to go on a dark, windy November evening in rush hour on the turning reservation of an A road on the way back from Cambridge as I was waiting to turn right with two on board.

We had to get the police out to block the road and commandeer drivers to help push it out of the way, all before trying to arrange for the ponies to be collected and the truck taken away.

Guess what - I'm very keen to get cambelts done exactly on time now, I had to have shedloads of work done as valves had gone through pistons and debris dropped into the crank:( A very very expensive lesson.

I know, I know. Mine was due 3000 miles ago. It's on my to do list. I've already had one done this year (different car!) though and I am tres poor. It'll have to go in soon though. Stupid cars. Who'd own a car?!

Re the parking question I had a 2000 freelander and swapped mine for an 05 plate shogun for exactly the same reason that you have changed yours. Although the shogun is much bigger it has a much tighter turning circle than the freelander which was like a barge so it's really easy to park :)
