Further to my post yesterday about doing my first showjumping competition at 2ft I had a lesson today and as I was still buzzing from yesterday we made it a jumping one.
My boy used to jump 3ft plus regularly with his old owner but it has been 20 years since I have done any serious jumping and that was on a friend's school mistress so while I love it I am not the most confident! Well my instructor built me up to a 2ft 6 slight spread and then he whacked it up another notch to 2ft 9! I can't believe I jumped that high and it was fab Max is a superstar and I am hopeful we can progress now with courses at 2ft 6 comfortably for our next outing.
For any of you lacking confidence out there I can give you hope. This time 4 months ago I was terrified to hack, hated cantering in the school, would definitely never consider galloping and jumping anything over 2ft was just crazy talk. All this was due to a near fatal fall I had off my previous horse although the accident was not her fault she was very spooky and sharp not a horse for regaining lost confidence!
Now I have my horse of a lifetime who whilst not a total novice plod as he likes to make sure you are still awake occasionally he is as genuine as they come. I have already taken him on a pleasure ride, been to jump cross and last week had my first gallop. I am so excited about our future! As a reward for his hardwork this weekend he will have tomorrow off and I will be taking him for a lovely relaxed hack on Tuesday
