Last night I had the most perfect moment with Whisper my mare.

I arrived at the yard at half 7, everyone else had been and gone so it was quiet and peaceful.

Whisper called out for me as I pulled up which always makes me smile, as the yard was empty I decided to let Whisper out on to the yard to wonder around while I mucked out. She had a lovely time walking around the yard looking in over the door to everyone elses stables having a nose and seeing what's going on. (No other horses were in apart from her boyfriend Ben next door)

I walked to the feed store and Whisper followed me muching on hay just inside the door while I filled haynets and made her dinner.

I then remembered that I had a can of strongbow in the boot of my car (from shopping prior to heading to the yard) so I opened the can put some Christmas tunes on the radio and carried on with my chores while Whisper followed me around.

As I put her to bed she munched her tea while I groomed her (you could see the relief on her face to have her rug off for awhile) I tickled her favorite itchy spot which she enjoyed.

Once she had finished her dinner she lay down snuggled up warm in her fresh bed of straw as she often does and I snuggled in with her having a can of strongbow in one hand pack of polo's in the other and Whisper drooling on my knee.

I wanted to share my moment with you from last night because I had such a crap day in the office and was feeling so low and fed up and my wonderful mare made my day perfect in the end last night.

Have you had a perfect moment with your neddy that makes you smile over and over? I know last night is something I will continue to smile upon day after day.

Aw that's lovely :). I too like those quiet dark moments at the yard when I'm grooming my horse and no-ones around :).

Lol at that cheeky can of strongbow

I wouldn't have been allowed to drink it with my mare about though - anything I am eating she wants ! Ice cream, chocolate, crisps, Mcdonalds chips cans of coke cups of coffee , the list is endless :)

That's lovely!!
(My gelding would insist on a swig of the strongbow and would insist on eating his dinner directly from the tubs in the feedroom...).

Gorgeous post, thank you :)

I have quite a few with my boy, lots of competition 'highs' but like you, sometimes it's the more mundane things you remember. I stood and watched him for ages this morning, carrying out an extremely 'acrobatic' performance when I turned him out in the school   . He is in the process of being rehabilitated after a very serious injury so it was lovely to see him feeling so well!
