I'll be looking to buy a horse in spring time. A nice allrounder to bring on and do some low level riding club and showing/ dressage. I found this boy and think he is lovely... put me off him please!!! ;-)

No way I can consider having one until at least after our baby is born in January and then not for another few months until I work out how I cope with motherhood!!

Well - I've been a horse and hound forum user since 2005 and you can see from how frequently I've posted recently why I wouldn't be even be thinking about buying with a baby due! My son is two on Wednesday and I'm still rubbish at getting the horses done.....

That's on the one hand and having said that I kept my mare going after my son was born. She had six weeks off (luckily it was winter) and has been fine. But then she is an experienced mare and I'd be reluctant to have a youngster with a baby as you simply wont be able to be consistent with training without help.

Then again I do know someone with a SUPER andalucian foal for sale... now you could buy that and let it grow up ready to start when your baby is older......?

ps just bought my son a pony too so really I am no use for stay away from them advice!

wait until youve had the baby, weeks on end with with no sleep AND a horse to sort out will be an awful lot of work. its hard work being a new mum as it is, without other responsibilities too.

I agree with the others, I'm afraid! Unless you have tons of generous family and friends on tap who are happy to give you endless babysitting, or you can afford a nanny or a nursery, then I doubt you will have the time to devote to a semi-broken youngster.
