I saw 6 gorgeously cute fox cub babies playing on my riverbank yesterday. They were really having fun in the sun.

Please humour a non rabbit or chicken owning ex londoner with her first piece of land delighting in the wildlife.

Nothing better than seeing wildlife doing what it's supposed to in my opinion. We had/have a fox family in the woods bordering our fields and the guys who used to come shoot rabbits would also actually go down (with their kids) to watch the cubs come out to play on an evening. I have actually yet to do it myself although have seen mum/dad fox providing the food (in rabbit form) regularly.

Speaking as one who lost her chickens to the fox last week, I love to see wild life in its right place, too, and loved to go out early as a child and sneak up to watch the cubs play - that was when foxes were quite timid, and kept away from farms and other human habitation, and also when no self respecting countryman would harm a fox in off season, and only rather dubious types would ever shoot or gas them.

Those days are long gone, but I agree cubs are still cute.

Hated for appreciating nature? No, I don't think so really. I would enjoy watching them too, I honestly think that the majority of people would enjoy that regardless of whether they follow hounds or not. I don't hate foxes and I have hunted most of my life.

I have coyote cubs in my woods and often see them in the paddocks I spend hours watching them, I still won't hesitate to call the hunters out if they decide that my cats/goats etc are tastier meals than the rabbits and other things that they can catch in the woods. I actively encourage and feed the deer on my property in the hard winter too, but I still have a side of venison from one of them nestling in my freezer now that was payment for allowing hunters to shoot in my forest.

I saw a stoat with something in its mouth this morning and a pair of red kites this afternoon which is really cool as it appears they may be nesting here which is a first!

One of the best things about hacking out is observing the wildlife. We see hare, red squirrel and deer around here. It always makes my day if I see something.

I am a chicken owner and also love to see fox cubs playing near us. At the end of the day I consider it my responsibility to keep my chickens safe.

Ditto Shils, please can someone enlighten me too as to what a ninja deer is? I used to hunt regularly, and my daughter still does but we love watching fox cubs playin in the field. Haven't got chickens though

My uncle used to keep Buzzards. We had a Barn owl and he was awsome.
One animal I have never seen out in wild alive before is a Badger such a shame and would so love to see a red Squirell as all of ours are Grey but I did see a nest of squirrells this morning when I was walking home from the yard as I walk through woodland to get to and from the stables (short cut) so nice

At the weekend I saw our cat belting accross the paddock as fast as his paws would carry him. I went to see what he was running away from. It was a fox cub. When the cub spotted me it ran into the hedge, followed by a rabbit in hot pursuit. So funny.

Why would you be hated for saying this. Not everyone on here supports hunting! Me being one of them.

It's really lovely watching the young of any animal playing! Pity foxes have to be so distructive - if they only killed one hen and ran off with it that would be OK but they don't they massacre the lot and then steal one - it's not surprising that farmers tend not to want them around.

I now live in New Zealand - in the centre of a lovely country town and in winter love to watch the wax eye birds eat the berries off a tree that hangs over my fence. Pleaded with the new neighbours not to take it down.

This year a Tui came to visit the Kowhai (Ko fy) tree he has a lovely song and sports a very smart bowtie of white below his beak. They are rarely seen in town so I was really thrilled to see him - I've planted my garden to encourage the wild birds.

I even have a pet wild mouse that pops up from under the floor, watches carefully then does a mad dash to the cats bowl and steals a biscuit. Cat is usually too dozy to catch it!
