I know this might sound ..........

Tight enough so the saddle doesn't slip, but not so tight they can't breath! I was always taught to check that you could just slide two fingers underneath it- that way you knew it was tight enough.

Most people say you should be able to slide your hand under the girth and it should be snug but not tight, if you have an elasticated girth be careful not to over-tighten it :-)

A well fitting saddle should not slip anyway so doesn't need to be reeally tight!
