Today was one of the stranger days I've had lately. The Carrot Lady did the thing where first she brushes my mane and tail with my most favouritest brush, which is the purple brush that has a long handle. It's extra-scratchy, even more so than the brown curved brush that is my second-favouritest brush.
Then she yanks on my mane and tail lots, which isn't so nice. She calls it "plaiting", and sometimes it involves flappy ribbons. Today, it did.
Then, she tried to make me go in the narrow stall on wheels. I tried not to go in it, but then she made me walk backwards lots and lots and lots, until I was so annoyed that when she let me walk forwards again, I walked right into the stall on wheels, except it was sort of by accident.
The really little-but-wide chestnut mare came, too. She had plaits as well. But when it was time to get off, she didn't come! The Carrot Lady and I got left by ourselves in a place with many shiny fast things standing there, and the stall on wheels drove off, with the really little mare!
I already had my saddle on. So the Carrot Lady came in this really strange shiny outfit. It had a big red blanket thing, which I already knew about because she's waved it at me lots before, and a shiny gold thing on her head with lots of red feathers!
We went for a walk in this strange place, and I realised I'd been here before, a long time ago. There were many people wearing big lumpy humps on their backs, and many lights, and lots of bumpy streets and steps and walls and things.
We went all the way to a place where there were many tiny little people, all calling to me and waving big colourful bright things in the air!
The Carrot Lady then got on, and we left them to it, but they must have followed us, because later, they were all walking behind me and singing.
The Carrot Lady sings to me sometimes, too.
Then, we got to a sort of square stony place. Some man was sitting in it yelling at the Carrot Lady and flapping his arms, a bit like the Scary Chicken Flap Man, except it wasn't the same man, so I wasn't scared. She got off me and waved a shiny silver stick around for a bit, and then ripped the big red blanket thing right in half and gave half to the yelling flapping man.
Then she got back on and we left.
The little singing people with the colourful lights followed us some more---I'm sure I could have gotten us away from them, if only the Carrot Lady had let me!
But maybe it's better she didn't, because when we stopped and they caught up, they petted me lots, which was nice, and then I got a strange tasty sweet squishy thing, which was even nicer.
Finally, we went back to the place where the shiny fast things were standing. We stood there for a long long time, and I ate my haynet and had my bum scratched, which was really, really nice. I hadn't even known it was that itchy!
Some people came by and talked to the Carrot Lady, and many of them petted me too. She asked them if she would get a ticket for parking a pony in a disabled parking spot, which I didn't really understand.
I'm not disabled, and neither is she, but why should they give her something for parking there? It wasn't a proper park, anyway, because parks are supposed to have grass and bushes, and there were none of those there, at least not where I could get at them!
She also told them that she doesn't usually bring her pony to university, which I would think they would know already, since I've never seen them before. They said that she should bring me to her lecture next week, so I guess that means they liked me! I hope she doesn't though, if that means that we have to go in the stall on wheels to that strange place again. I'm afraid it probably does.
Then, the stall on wheels came back. The little mare wasn't in it, this time, but I really wanted to go home, so I went straight in, and we did go home. I got lots of carrots for that! And some weird sort of cold goo on my itchy bum. But lots of carrots!
Altogether, I don't really know what to make of this strange trip. I remember something like it from last time I was in that strange place, but I still haven't really got a clue what it was all about. Do any of you?
Here's a link to a picture of the strange getup the Carrot Lady and I were wearing last year: it was the same this year!
