My mare is the best little Cleveland Bay in the world, no lets make that the best little mare in the entire world (will retract this for loading and clipping

Yesterday our second hunting outing, this time with the South Notts. Loaded her up (when she was ready

) arrived unloaded, met up with Paganandcloughie, Filly190 and Jessica_daunted and Donkey went into Turbo Donkey mode

It was announced that there was a jump out of the field immediately - so those that did not want to do it had to take a different route - yes that was me.......until I heard the Master - a fantastic lady called Kate say in her best bred for the hunting field voice - well if they bring horses out hunting they should bloody well be able to jump.....eek I could'nt let the side down! Approached the fence - all of 2 feet and she jumped so big she socked me in the mouth!!! Up a hill through the woods throwing joyous bucks out left and right

and straight over another small fence into a field - again no problem.

We then alternated to standing around to belting across fields, up and down banks through woods - much of which I would never dare to do on my own!! Sticky moment coming out of the woods there was some low wire on the ground, hardened hunters were jumping it but I would never risk my girls legs, and several others were just as concerned, so SSM to the rescue scrambled off the Donkey (dont swing your legs forward and slide in sticky jods - you just hang on the side

) held the wire down and everyone walked over!

From there on we did two enourmous drop into ditches and jump over streams - yes we did need a lead as I don't think she had seen anything like it and scrambled up one of the banks and splat on her face at the top - and I stayed on

. We returned before the end as the Turbo was running out in the Donkey - hacked back to the Kennels with another retiree - then as I was hacking home - scariest part of the whole day was hacking 100 yards down the dual carrige way to get across - lovely lorry man behind me crawled along to stop the traffic!!

Home and Donkey happily tucked up dreaming of her next outing!!

All I can say is to the South Notts thanks for making me so welcome, I had forgotten how wonderful it is just to watch the hounds working and I so sad that it is the end of the season!!

PS Jess_daunted, biggest faux pas of the entire day, told me Donkey was beautiful and was she an Irish Draft cross??

My jaw literally fell open - can everyone please remember that I only have eyes for one breed - THE CLEVELAND BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PPS - Jess you are forgiven - now get your report on!!

Oh bless her, so glad you had a good day, was thinking about you both.

Roll on next season then honey, you are going to have to nanny me and Millie...

3 cheers for Turbo Donkey! WOO HOO

You sound like you had a blast!, boy even my blood was up reading that!! I wanna go hunting now, what a fabulous day you had.

Now for those pics???

Go Turbo donkey! She's such a star... and CBs are the best!

Has turbo donkey put in an appearance when schooling yet? Just a few folk on here suggested taking mine hunting to pep her up in the school, which I can't do till next year at the earliest, so I'd be interested to know if it's helped her?

Thanks! I think she really does love it but is so sensible - will get at least one more outing with the Readyfield in before the end of the season!! - I am addicted again!

And then perhaps a little consideration may be given for TEAM CHASING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My instructor wanted her hunting to liven her up - honest answer - Sorry no the turbo still stays switched off when schooling!!!!

Hubby only took one - as he dropped me off and had so much work on

B'gger thought that might be the case - but how nice is it to have a sensible horse for hunting
laugh.gif

I think I'm going to have to accept that I've got a sensible, steady, bone idle horse, with a lot of attitude...

Aw wow!!! Sounds like you both had a cracking day! The weather was perfect for a spot of cross country riding too! I'm thrilled for you that Stonky is so wonderful in all ways! (Who cares about the clipping/loading????!!!

)
Great to hear you both having such fun!

I am not brave, just so lucky to have this wonderful sensible mare who really looks after me - and seems to have a lot of self preservation about her!!!!!!!

You will be fine.............on the 14th October Longford and District Riding Club hold a fun Team Chase, do you fancy it......... I know it a long way off, but it could be fun.....

Fantastic report!! So glad that you had a fabulous day and your 'hunter' (as that is what she is now) was all you wanted her to be!

Can you not fit in another outing? when is the closing meet?

Hi SSM, no match report yet as arms are still aching from pulling!!!! Filly 190 is the person with the piccies, same for me only one photo of the day.... Struggled to jump in lesson today, legs are killing (how unfit am I?).
