We jumped everything!
Including the biggest jumps on the course...which I'd taken one look at and said 'NO WAY' at when we first got there.
But for our first time actually proper XC schooling, I couldn't have asked him to be anymore of a superstar than what he was today! Even travelling, unloaded him and just stood there quietly tied to the lorry munching - not breaking the tie and whinnying constantly like he's done a few times before out.
Anyway, got him and he just stood there completely chilled, then took him round the XC fields and he was still chilled, but all there obviiously!
Warmed him up all round the jumps to have a look at them, but he didn't really care like normal - had a shy at some shiny 1ft barrels lmao, but that was it!
Popped him over all the little ones which he did in his sleep, then did a few more 'awkward' and slightly bigger ones which he also did like a star!
Only ones we 'stopped' at, was the water to start with...took a couple of minutes to convince him to get his toes wet! But then once he was in there was no stopping him, he LOVED it and were jumping in and out all the combo's there were bless him! [Minus a gigantic spook when he was so busy splashing he got it up his nose and spooked himself. LOL. Was very funny and got V.soaked from him spinning and kicking the water in protest!]
Then got even more brave and decided to attempt some of the biggest ones on the course :s The ones which I had no intention of doing haha!
But, he did them all like an old pro, didn't falter, back off or even seem like it was an effort! I think the biggest ones are 4ft, I think? I'm not sure :s But he made them seem like nothing and took care of me. I trust that little horse so much bless him, and I like to think he trusts me enough to be that genuine, even when I got it wrong he still sorted me out and got me over in one piece!
Best ones I think had to the be the narrow layered brush skinny, the brush rolltop and the steeplechase fences. They were pure awesome. Galloped down to them and did the whole line....though I didn't look at them properly before and didn't realise just how big the last one was until we were coming up to it haha! I do remember the smile on my face going over it however, we hit it on the perfect stride and it just felt like we were flying.
So yes.
All in all, utterly fabulous day.
*blissful sigh*
