Is he prepared to do the work in helping look after her. Excuse me for saying this, but it seems a little selfish to have 4 of your own but not let him have one? Are you keeping the Spanish boy? Is his sugar free diet working?

Good to hear about your Spanish boy. It does seem a little pointless him having this horse if he won't go near it, although I can see his point about your Spanish horse from what you previously posted. Perhaps tell him (again?) that you don't have time for 5.

You could tell him that the only way you could have another horse is if he paid for a groom to muck out etc. therefore meaning that you would have time to ride/compete.... that should put a spanner in the works!

GLad to hear Spanish boy is doing well! That's great news!

As for the possibility of a new one, if you haven't got the time then that's that. Let the hanoverian go to someone who does have time for her! Maybe in future you can have another? Horses aren't like shoes, we can't just 'collect' them!!!!!! They don't sit in a wardrobe until we need them either.Tell your OH if he wants to spend that sort of money on you then he can buy you a posh dressage saddle for your Spanish chap and some lessons with Sylvia Loch or Fiona Foy!

I would say thank you very much but no thanks. To say you will never find another hannovarian that is well schooled is a bit naive... they are everywhere! Wait til you have space and time for a new one (probably when you no longer have one of your others). Simples.

After all... what is the point in having a nice horse you don't have time for?

And actually - has anyone thought that the reason he found this horse could well be because he is concerned about OP hurting herself with her Spanish horse? After all the posts? I think it shows a lovely person concerned about his OH! But if you don't have the time then do not do it. Spend some time to show your OH that you are safe and enjoying the Spanish horse. You must also think of your current horses and how they would be impacted with the arrival of another horse taking up time. I have 3 rescue staffords as I love the breed and hate what is happening to them. What stops me from taking on number 4 is that it would not be fair on the dogs I already have..
