I stupidly broke my arm 5 weeks ago (kicked by a friends horse) and have missed out on weeks of glorious riding weather
The doctor said I have magical healing ability (saw me 2weeks after having it plated and thought it was a 6 week check up!) but absolutely no riding at all allowed for 6 weeks. Well, 5 weeks is kinda close, right?!
I so love my pony :wub:Thought the first ride should be safe and sensible, so decided Piper was prob a better bet than Mr Drama Queen Toby.
So this avo off I toddle with my just-broken not-quite 4yr old, in a headcollar and bareback and took him off for a hack
Such a good boy as always and just sauntered round and even managed a little trot
AND he did his first ever ridden show last weekend. I couldn't ride so a friend (who'd never even met him before
) was drafted in, stuffed into my show gear (there was a reason she was chosen
) and sent off into Condition and Turnout, where they came 4th in a huge class
He was a little bemused with all the horses round him, and had a little paddy in line up (which, after 25min of standing still, I don't blame him!) but my friends car had to be thoroughly checked on way home to ensure no Piper Smuggling occured
The rather Windswept look
(I should point out his feathers were spotless before he had to walk through very dew damp grass!)
And the outcome.
I'm so glad I bought an easy simple pony now. Choice was between a higher maintainance, properly comp horse to go out and about with, or an easy little coblet just to have fun with for a while then sell on. But since he appears to be doing some growning (made 14.3, yey) he may well not be going anywhere
