I made someone fall off today!

Meet a friend for a hack today, she has a rather excitable Warmblood who she rides once in a blue moon (her Mum normally rides him). We decided to go though the woods, and as it was quite warm her horse was being very calm, so I suggested we pop over a few little logs (they are tiny honestly), she really didn’t want to, but big gob here, was going, your be ok, he will enjoy it etc. etc.
Well her horse jumped the logs fine, but then decided to buck (BIG) when she ducked for a tree, and she came off.
Ruddy hell, how bad did I feel as it really was my fault for pushing her into doing something she really wasn't up for!

Not only that but then when we split up (as we keep our horses in different places), the bad boy bucked again, and had her on the floor again. She cut her knee and broke a nail (which was really unhappy about).

So lesson learnt for me, DO NOT PUSH PEOPLE INTO DONG STUFF! Not all horses are as easy as Bodey. :eek:
 
I understand how you feel but your heart was in the right place. I went on a lovely pleasure ride last year with anya01 on here. She really encouraged me to have a go at the jumps despite the fact that I was adamant I didn't want to and we ended up having a fantastic time and jumping loads of different things. I'm sure your friend doesn't blame you.
 
I hope not, but she really wasn’t happy that one of her false nails broke, whoops! However she did joke about going on a sponsored ride and me wrapping her in bubble wrap, and buying a 2 point air jacket, lol! I work with her, so hopefully she will still be speaking to me tomorrow!
 
Hey at the end of the day, you encouraged her, but she took the decision! I have a mate with a horse with a foul buck, he is awesome in every way and so talented but she has rebacked him as she kept hitting the deck! And she is one of the best riders I know. Don't feel bad, she's lucky to have a mate who encourages her. And remember it wasn't the log, it was the buck! He could have done that on the flat!! xx

yes...........but if you had fallen off I would have felt guilty!!!!
but omg she could throw a buck..........
 
Very true, but it was the jumping that wound him up he was fine until then, oh well. It’s just with Bodey I jump logs all the time, I forget other horses get excited by that kind of stuff.
At least it’s something to talk about at work tomorrow, lol!
 
Don't feel guilty Jobo, it was her decision to give it a go. Sometimes it's great to have that little bit of encouragement.

I was out last week with my friend and there was a log across the path in the woods. She popped it, Rosie and I found a way through the trees. I know I can't sit Rosie's jumps, so don't take the risk. Maybe Plumpton will get me jumping :) but I'm not ready yet.

Well perhaps you can add me to your list of 'fall offs' :)

I haven't fallen off Rosie yet, I've been round her neck twice, once after jumping (pole only just off the ground) and once after using a whip (I didn't touch her it was my leg I used it on :) )

My daughter had her first fall off of Rosie on a small jump too :)

Rosie likes to jump but rushes at it like an express train.
