... and it seems like she's going to be a titch! Measured from front of coronet to centre of knee, this was 13 inches - therefore 13hh as a two year old, and then CCJ told me to measure from the fetlock to the elbow joint (filly bit my head at this point as I was alone!), that was 24 inches, double it and you have the height as a two year old - 12hh!!

I'm hoping that I'm getting this seriously wrong, as her growth pattern is very even. Her dam is 15.1hh and sire 14.2hh, she is 3/4 Welsh D and 1/4 appaloosa, and we bred her for me to ride, at this rate I'll need rollerskates (but I will be able to mount from the ground)!

You've got it a bit wrong I think!

Measure from fetlock to elbow joint as you did but don't just double the length of string, don't forget you've got from floor to fetlock joint to add in too! At just a guess, that should make it at least 13.2 at the very least and it will still have another couple of years to grow fully so you should get there in the end.

If it's any consolation we've never had one grow smaller than it's dam, and I would estimate your filly will be at least 15 hh. (and plenty big enough to carry you, you're not that tall!)
ps Do you fancy coming to the meal at Winkleigh this Thursday?
