It's possible that I may be moving back to the UK in a few months time :(. I'm not looking forward to it, but need to start planning for worst case scenario, that it does happen.

I have 2 horses, both born and bred in Spain and never left AFAIK. They both had microchips done in August this year and have European passports. My dad is considering hiring a horsebox from UK for a few days to drive them back. Does anyone know if/what vaccinations they need to have to cross the border? It won't be for competition or livery yard (my grandparents have a farm and they will be staying there).

Really hoping this doesn't happen but it's looking a distinct possibility so if anyone could advise I would be grateful. Thanks.

Get them transported by a professional company Becca! You KNOW what the regulations are for driving horses about in Spain! You'll need a guia, plus export papers and I have a feeling if your dad wants to drive them he may need a Manipulator de Ganadaria licence - or whatever they are calling the livestock handling cert these days.

I would ask on here for recommendations for a transporter...it is SO not worth you doing it yourself...we had our two transported from North to South, because you have to pass through so many Communidades.

Ditto, it is a nightmare.

John Parker does regulat trips too and from Spain. He will deal with all the paper work so you can sit back and relax. His lorries are the best and his drivers are horsemen. He will also advise you to all jabs etc.

Hello,

I had my horse transported by LOC international horse transport from France to the UK in May this year and the drivers are great with horses and very friendly!
All he needed was his French passport+microchip, tetanos+flu jab and that was it as there is a Tripartite agreement between the UK and the European Union.
I'm pretty sure it is the same for horses coming from Spain but LOC would tell you all you need to know as they go to Spain as well.
From South of France to Gloucestershire I paid a bit less than £600 so was a lot cheaper than hiring a horse box!

Wow that's a good price tiana. That would be really helpful as well if all they needed was chip, passport and vaccinations!! I'll definately give them a call if I do end up moving :)

Ditto this, it takes most of the hassle out of getting them back! Hope it does not come to it though, good luck :)
