Lost my ex-racer exactly 2 years ago and one of my childhood ponies just over 1 year ago. My remaining little oldie, who has Cushings, is now starting to drop weight (although she seems happy in herself). I just can't bear the thought of having to make that decision again, especially for her

Sorry, just having a miserable moan. Found some photos of the three of them last night which I'd forgotten about and it just made me realise how rubbish it is not being able to ride! I hope to find a new ex-racer next year when, fingers crossed, my home life is more settled. In the meantime I will make little one's life as good as it possibly can be. Never take your ponies for granted, sadly they aren't here for as long as we are.

I have paintings of all my horses, those that have past on and a friend who is a very good artist is starting on the 3 that I haven't had done. When I look at the paintings I have good memories.

Dont think you ever stop missing them!
We have two with cushings now so we are in the same boat, one is a 26yr old who we rescued from Bodmin in terrible condition 24yrs ago, he is happy at the moment. The other is a 12.2 who is on permenant loan to us, he is in his early 20s and the worst affected.

Oh I truely understand how your feeling as funnily enough I found some pics today that I had taken just before I lost my lad back in Aug and had a good cry again...its horrid I wish I could have him back just one more time to tell him I love him...although I do this everyday as he's next to me....

I too have nothing to ride as my little mare is lame but wouldnt mind not riding her again tbh..shes a babe anyway to have around and without her I wouldnt have got through this so easily...unfortunately being an owner has its down sides but I feel proud to have given my merls his last wish....free from pain as I promised him i wouldnt let him suffer!

Miss him everyday and always will no matter what...me and him were in seperable...
would love a painting of him...what a lovely idea John robert do they do it from photo's?

Big hugs too

Oh sorry Soph didnt mean to make anyone cry....even though I'm sat here balling my eyes out about him...again...ooooh it will stop one day I know it will...just listening to certain songs starts me off....and one of them just on was s club's dreams come true xmas one...oh that was enough for me.....and Faith hill's pearl harbour song is merl's song

kezz- many artists do it from photos. (including me but I'm not very good) lzt, madhector and papafrita on here are all very good. Go on the equine arts thread in the SB to see examples of people's work
