I have signed up to go to this with Civil Service Riding Club..

£45 for 2 hours riding and lunch.

I haven't done cross country since last summer. I only started going back riding last May.

Am I insane?

It's very fun!
Go for it! (although instructor smoking was bad last time... and ground poor but still got good gallop and some decent jumps)

Id normally say £45 for 2 hours is pretty steep, but in a place like that, I think itll be worth every penny! very posh!!!lol!
