I got katie ready yesterday spent hours trimming and scrubbing etc. got up weather was good, katie had kept reasonably clean overnight. Took a little while to load her she is so stubborn but each time she gets better and she has not been in the trailer since Oct so was pleased with her, set off to the show, when i arrived there was a very long queue waiting to get on to the showground. Then after sitting there for ten mins someone came down the line of boxes/trailers saying 2 lorries were stuck in the mud everyone was being towed on. So i drove past the gate and went home!! I did not want to get towed and risk upsetting her as she has just started to travel really well, so thought oh well there are plenty more shows... but i do have the cleanest horse in the field!!lol

I agree, good decision, it would be a shame to put your horse off for one outing...one day it will stop raining and the ground will dry out!

Aww what a shame for you.
There will be other days and well done for putting your horses welfare first. A very unselfish and refreshing attitude.

How dissapointing for you

, unloaded Toto and lots of nice people shoved and heaved it free , put lots of straw under the wheels and thankfully got off with no probs

Awww, all dressed up and no place to go! Agree with everyone else though, you were right to make sure your horse didn't have a negative experience because of the silly ground!

good decision, it means that katie may be happier to get in the trailer if she thinks she's going on a roundtrip to come home to munch in the field with out having to lift a hoof!!

Thanks guys some people think im mad, but i would not risk upsetting her, she travelled beautifully and never even sweated up, so ill look upon it as a positive. Def think she was amazed when we dropped the ramp at home!!

Shame you missed the show but sounds like it was the right decision for your mare. We were at a show yesterday and although everyone got on the parking field ok, several trailers had to be towed off. Couldn't understand why people didn't load their horses after the trailer was towed off the field (there is a long tarmac drive to the parking area where they could have loaded), instead of the poor animals being bumped around whilst towed by a tractor. Have always been embarrassed by ex hubbys huge, lets play off roader tyres on the disco, but have to admit they did the job yesterday
