Exocet missile on it's way. Come on, you know you can do it and I suspect you'll find intro easy given what you've been jumping. How about the stressage?
The thing is, a day spent eventing is such good fun - lovely people all around you and a whole day in the fresh air - what could be better.

I'll give you a kick up the a**, if you'll give me one. Since I fell off in the autumn I have had no interest in jumping my mare (have jumped the old horse though) which is totally ridiculous.
Sounds like you are more than capable of intro. Get your instructor to take you XC schooling when some courses are open again, that will get you motivated.

thanks everyone, yes will def go xc schooling as soon as they open again, the nerves are just generally about competing i think, my last horse was a fiend to jump and had huge bucking fits after each fence doing sj though that was a while ago now and H is excellent he is bred to jump and takes everything in his stride, no sillyness or anything hes rising 6 so doing well so far and i really dont; want to waste his talent so need to find a way to get over my nerves. stressage is fine i eeek quite enjoy it really!!!! H not as keen but is v willing and tries his hardest now cantering with nice elevation and contact so am v pleased with him really.
so sounds like i'm not the only one who needs a rocket fiona, will give it a go if you will!

I know just how you feel!! I have to continually push myself (and we are not talking big stuff here!) I think that if you have had a difficult horse to jump, it buries in your subconscious, even after years possibly. My only solution is to just keep jumping and competing but don't overface yourself. I will always have butterflies, I'm just that sort I think, but repetition works for me. I love it once I've finished and can't wait to go again... That is until the day of the competition when nerves kick in again!!
