Where can I find another Rufus, He was a star, I need an older hardy pony (Gelding), you know the tough as old boots type.

He used to put up with my old baggage of a mare and just used to let her get on with bossing him about as it was easier, loved his cuddles and all round a lovely pony.

I’ve been given a 2yr welsh sec b x PBA Filly on loan as a companion but I don’t think it’s going to work out as my mare hates her and flies at her with teeth and back legs I know she will settle over the next few days but I fear for her safety as she is just so dainty and delicate and when you have 420kg’s of Haflinger flying at her and meaning it it’s not fun. They are in stables next to each other and Donna is trying to get over the partition wall at her. Donna gets on better with Geldings.

Unfortunately I’m not in a position to buy as I now have a huge vets bill for Rufus. But can loan with a view to buy in 12 months or so for the right pony.

some mares just don't like other mares mine only tolerates them, but then she's also quite particular about her geldings too!! If you can't buy, how about the rescue centres they are crying out for companion homes for loads of elderly or young horses that can't be ridden. Check out their websites. Adoption fees for these are usually pretty low. and the bluecross offer a companion package with pfizer for their non ridden companions whereby for the first year you get vaccinations and teeth checks and I think even wormers etc free. check out their website.

It probably sounds like alot to ask for but but need something no bigger than 14hh, 14.1 at a push, Gelding preferably older. A hardy pony happy to be left on its own from time to time when im out riding. Must have no lami or sweet itch etc

I'm in Devon. i have been offered a 16yo gelding. He is 14.1 and previously had a blown tendon so can’t be ridden. But he has a sarcoid on his neck it’s quite large and flat but she said she had has him for 4 years and it has not altered in the time she has had him. As far as the leg goes has blew his tendon just after she got him and he has been field sound pretty much ever since.

What would you guys think do you think that I should steer clear or would he be ok.

you mate are destined to own a taio beast. you know how much you love him! and he is just your type, and has the same thuggish attitude as d!

Well the new pony is causing issues already. He has decided that he doesn't like his new stable and wont be caught to go in it. even if you put a hard feed in the stable and leave the door open (stable is in the field) there is no way on earth he will go in. Which is now causing a problem as i was to bring Donna in as she is now covered in fly bites from head to toe.

Why is it so difficult to find an older gelding companion who is easy to do in all ways, he doesn't even really need to be ridden.

you could possibly have the tb i have? he will stay out of trouble and will stay in a field on his own or the stable, id have to talk to his owner though.

i know he is bigger than you like but he would be fine in your stables.

id push taio on you but cant say hed be trust worthy alone!

I will see what his owner thinks when she comes, barring that i could have something from R when she has finished, for the winter and worry about it in the spring when i have more money.
