I ride in a morning for about half an hour, so not long enough to go for a nice hack so I focus on schooling in a field.
I can't go in the field I used to use so am now using a large (approx 5 acres) grass field where the grass is very long except where it's been cut, like a race track, around the edge. It's great for a good gallop, but what other schooling exercises could I do in it?!
Oh, and it's not mine so can't build any jumps in it, so flatwork suggestions only I'm afraid.

I have this problem. Sometimes I walk round the whole field in walk, then again in walk/trot/halt transitions, again trot/canter transitions. Change the rein and do the same. You can perfect your transitions and count your strides in between each one. If you're going round the whole field it's surprising how quickly the time goes.

we do this in winter so that we don't churn up whole field

lots of trans between paces
lots of trans within paces, working, med, collected. we have post and rail so count say 6 rails then trans, or, as I also jump counting how many strides I can fit in or how few strides I can fit in between 2 points in canter.

Can also do:
shoulder in
leg yield
other lateral work depending on horse!
walk half pirouettes to changet he rein. (as mine can be a bit too laid back in these it often goes medium trot- walk-pirouette- trot.)

Also found it good for introducing counter canter and specifying which leg he would strike off of by doing the odd loop in from the track to get the opposite leg (depends how wide your strip is)
