I need new kit - suggestions please !!

Most of my kit is looking tired and worn so I need a new hunting wardrobe !! My jacket is new this year but I also want a new shirt, stock, jods, thermals, a wool waistcoat and waterproofs.

What does everyone else have and what can you recommend? I'd like a really nice, good quality stock - the ones that always look 'stiff' if you know what I mean - I know they are out there but I can never find them!

Also - the jod coloured, waxy waterproofs ..... where do you go for those these days? Mine are years old and no longer made by the supplier I bought from.

Really want a good set of thermals - top only .... is it possible to get them with a popper bottom - kindof like a baby grow - to stop them riding up? Anyone know of any?

What about the softshell winter breeches you can get now? Townend do some for about £75 I think, or pikeur do them for about £150+ i think if you wanted to spend a bit more. The pikeur ones are supposed to be really nice according to a friend of mine who has a pair.
Also I think equitech do thermal under breeches with stirrup things under the feet to prevent them riding up.
Merino wool is good for thermals as it won't make you sweaty like some man made fibres can, or silk is also good. You can get merino and silk thermals from outdoors shops.

I have a shires cotton shirt (which is almost as good as the now non-existent MrFox shirts), equitector boots (and an alternative of ariat short boots, and tredstep gaiters), and caldene belgrade breeches or musto jods for colder days....

my stock is ancient so I'm no help there, but huntingstockmarket have plenty to choose from.
and I don't usually wear thermals, so again no help... but go for merino wool if you can as it's sooooo toasty warm! icebreaker do some good tops which are comfy to ride in.

I've recently bought a pair of the Tally Ho Aylesbury hunting breeches which are waterproof and fleece lined. Warm, no doubt, but I tend to get a bit clammy in them whilst tacking up, and they make my legs look like sausages! Most unattractive. However, today I have had my first day in a pair of Cudworth of Norden traditional style moleskin breeches. Oh so soft and comfy, and I love how they look! You might want to err on the longer side though so they are not too tight round your knees.

For stocks, Mrs Bs stocks (www.bespokestocks.com) has loads of really different ones. For gloves, my favourite are the knitted ones from the Hunting Stock Market (www.huntingstockmarket.co.uk). They also have lots of good gear. I got a really heavyweight stock (I think it's the plain white cotton one) from there which I only wear on really cold days as it is so thick. Also there is www.thehuntingshop.co.uk which has lots of second hand gear and gorringe breeches.

I'm also on the lookout for good thermals. You might be best looking at cycling or motorcycling websites for really hi-tech base layer stuff. Also apparently Uniqlo have very good cheap thermals called Heat-tech. Another favourite recent purchase were some fleece lined pop socks from the local cheapo shop. Knee length, thin and very warm.
