Hi peeps, I really could do with your valuable opinions and ideas please!
Teddy (yearling) has had another episode today ....and demolished a solid fence that divides where he was grazing from my acre field where he and kinzzy share most of the time. I bring Kinzzy in for 3 hours (where teddy can see her) and let him eat the good grass in what I call my schooling area.....part of my two acre field!
So, if you can follow my rant.....Teddy was in the schooling area grazing alone but in sight of Kinzzy and he has done this daily for weeks now....not a problem. The reason I bring kinzzy in is because he demolished the same fence ages ago trying to get to kinzzy, who I left in the acre field one day! I built his time up gradually and he has access to water and he's been very calm.
Today when I went back to move them both into the acre field.....I find Teddy standing next to a demolished fence....on the other side of it...even further away from Kinzzy...just looking at me!
What am I doing wrong??......is he bored? Thirsty? (although he has clean water daily), worried?......the big thing that stands out (but I don't want to think too much about it) is that he needs a play mate! Does he? Am i expecting too much even though he's been a dream grazing in there for weeks? I just can't stand the unpredictability!!! I really thought I had a good routine and was meeting the needs of them both....wrong!
I have 3 acres, two of which are full of grass and I was keeping them for winter....but if I need another neddy then I can assure you it will have a long term excellent home with me. I hope i've explained it well enough for everyone to picture it! Thanks for you time!
