My dog was killed on Thursday 1st November at approx 10.30am on the A66 East bound carraigeway near Bowes, Barnard Castle, County Durham. All I know is that a very distressed woman in a black car stopped in the fast lane of the road and picked a dog up and put it her in her car. A HGV pulled in behind her to protect her from irrate drivers that were understandably travelling at speed and having to swerve to avoid hitting her. The HGV driver knew the farmers next to me and rang to ask if they had lost a dog. I have no further information and do not know if this woman killed my dog or if a previous car had hit her. So far I have contacted the police, they said they had no reports of a dog being killed, local dog warden, local dog pounds, micro chipping company and local vet's. My dog was a liver and white spanniel, neutered bitch. Yes, I appreciate I have been a very irrisponsible allowing my dog to presumably track a rabbit from my farm up onto the dual carraigeway. I hold my hands up to that, I also hold my hands up to the fact that my dog could have caused a very serious accident and that as a result of my negligence she is dead and that the person who hit her must be feeling terrible BUT I would like to have her home to bury her and say my goodbyes. So do you know of anyone who knows something about this incident? Thankyou in advance.
