This is long, you dont have to read it but i need it out before I explode!

This all began on Boxing Day, and I need to vent or I might strangle someone!
I was busy so as there was SJ on at local yard and one friend was going I let other friend who's horse is out of action take my horse. She has ridden him before, and works at yard so knows his feeds/rugs etc. I gave her instructions - spoken and written in text to take a rug with her as it was cold - I went up to the yard (as was doing another horse there) about 4 hours after they had left for the SJ and they weren't back and ALL his rugs were in his stable - GREAT! A half clipped horse standing out in the cold and dark after being ridden

.
Before I had left that day I made up his feeds so she didnt have to - she was there when I did it - and I asked her if she knew whis feed buckets, and I added which colour for which feed (as dinner has his supps in) she said she did, adn I left it at that.
Came up last night to be greeted by not very happy looking horse, and only 1 feed bucket in stable - his breakfast one. I know this girl wouldn't have taken his dinner bucket out as they dont do that so mate checked feed bin and low and behold one full dinner bucket with LAST NIGHTS feed in it

- so not only did he not get his supps he either didnt get dinner last night, or he had his breakfast for dinner and no brekkie!

I then had to finish his clip as the blades were blunt so it didnt get done fully before. He was ok for 10 mins, then got a bit antsy so I twitched him and did the ear rubbing for a bit which worked and as usual he was a bit funny about his neck so his nose was held (restricted airway)- this really calms him. So he was fine and I was doing his neck and OMG, in hind sight I think I did see this coming - I just saw the white of his eye and then he went up and boxed out with both front feet

I just about shat myself and instead of jumping out the way I tried to kick him away with my foot but he came down and landed on the still going clippers (so now has a cut on his cheek/neck fold) and then started boxing out at me with his front feet - at that point I legged it and turned the clippers off. I was physically shaking as he can be a bit stroppy, but this was the worse EVER. But when I then approached him without the clippers he was normal and in fact very calm (twitch had come off) and looking for sweeties!!!! I then held the switched off clippers and approached him and he did notice them but stood, and then I touched the off clippers to his neck and he was not happy.

He has had about 8/10 clips this year with them - some during summer to do his hog and legs, and he has been on the whole good, but each time there has been a bit less patience at doing it. So I take the time adn run the clippers over him when they are off and let him sniff them and he sees me changing the blades etc. He is inquisitive and will nuzzle them. So I don;t know why he suddenly went a bit mad! I knwo you will say how is my technique, but I have managed to clip other horses perfectly well and given them a clean smart clip as they havent titted about! It now of course looks terrible as he was being arsy. THe blades were not hot, and they were sharp and gliding through the hair very well.
The only time he has ever been really funny about his neck before was when they were in a mixed field and they were fighting and we discovered after taking the hair off that he was covered in bites and scratches from shoes as they had been fighting over the mares.

But it seems that the better he is performing under the saddle the WORSE he is getting on the ground - despite me being more firm with him and showing others what to do. But I guess if they then dont follow those actions out when im not there and let him away with stuff I am not progressing as much as I think!

And this doesnt help that I have PMT, and so this is all realyl niggling me to the point where last night I really wished I didnt own the beast! I coul dhave quite happily just gotten in my car and left him there! Bad I know, but its niggling at me so much - and the fact that when I have asked nicely or even when someone has offered to do something they do not carry it out!!
I mean I spend 5 hours of my xmas day doing other peoples horses and mucking them out properly and thoroughly at the expense of my time - and the same on boxing day! and the same numerous other times - I put them first and look after them like they were my own - WHY THE HELL CANT OTHER PEOPLE JUST DO 2 SIMPLE THINGS I ASK OF THEM!

.....................I think my head just exploded!

People, cant live with em, cant live with em.

I would like to know what part of the NO PARKING sign they dont understand, what part of IT'S ILLEGAL to use your phone while driveing they dont understand.

Dont get me started about people !!!!

Better now??? Have some chocolate, suspect he is just getting fitter. As for people......what it they say about if you want something doing properly, do it yourself!!!

So true, no matter how much other people help it isn't the same as when you do it yourself.

Well I now have a note up stating which bucket is which feed. I got 2 different coloured buckets so it was clearer. I must just think differently, especially as his dinner is in a soft rubber bucket cos it gets left in all night - his breakfast is just a mini tub trug as its in there for 30 mins max.

I am just most pissed off that he was jumped, in the cold, left to stand with no rugs and then didnt get any of his joint supps!! There is a reason that even in summer he had straw in his stable - he gets funny standing for a long time on hard ground - the animal has 4 splints FGS! BUT he has never been lame - he jsut gets a bit stiff which is better with work - not standing!

Folk at this yard seem to have a thing for leaving horses standing for ages with ho hay or water, and in the cold when they are sweaty with no rugs!!!

I have already eaten a WHOLE tube of pink smarties (thought he pink would cheer me up). I have the horse tonight again, but I know I am going to be in a foul mood come 5pm as I am in work, but all the regions are off so I am sitting with nothign to do - all filing/scanning etc done - and i have 2.5 more days of this next week!

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PASS THE VODKA PLEASE!

Unfortunately I did this with the clipping - after the last fiasco. Prob NOT good Idea, even if I did keep my calm/temper for once.

I think my horse can tell when I have PMT, as he is like both scared of me, protective of me but challenges me to.

I think there lies your answer beau... You were obviously (rightly so) wound up and cross about the feed/rug etc and the horsey picked up on it and tried to box his way from you!
They do pick up on moods and I expect you were still cross..

Have a hot choccy, with marsh mallows, squirty cream and a flake (is what me and daughter just had!!() Best thing for pmt

I completely agree and would be annoyed myself. **NOW CALM......Think of your blood pressure!!**

Here have a Vodka, mind if I join you?? I'm stuck at work with no chocolate and raging hormones too!!!

I had actually had a rant to my mate about it and it was out of my head - or so I thought - before I clipped him. I wasnt in as much of a mood as I have been in the past (I have bad mood swings) but his reaction last night was the most severe I have seen from him ever! If he had bunny hopped up jn a mood ok, but it was the boxing AT me.

Maybe he was just in a mood with me to for him not getting his dinner last night or brekkie today ?

I am just so upset as I swore after having a pony like that before that trampled me and ruined my confidence I would never have one again.

Aw, it is horrid when they are brutes at times.
Although i don't like humanising horses, you could be right about the feed.. H & P get very stroppy if we miss a feed out, to the point of of ears back, head shaking and nippiness. Unusual for them and only has occurred when a feed was missed.

Hope you have a better day

I am also soo tempted to walk out of work - - if I didnt need the money I would. I know im not the worlds best admin, but this place is killing me and I am wasted here - there are no challenges.

I actually have vodka in my car that I was meant to drop off to a mate. If I didnt have the horse to do tonight I would go get it, and have a few and get the bus home.

I realyl dont think I should be at the yard tonight as I can tell my PMT is worse today and I just have this feeling that 'something' will happen.

Possibly also as I left a note saying "we must have the smartest rats that can get into my feed bin an leave a handful of feed on its lid (rats with blooming big claws!) - either that or someones been in there - and I hope it was rats
wink.gif
"

I think they all get stroppy when they've had a routine upset.

I was late for tea on Christmas eve and whilst bending down getting the feed out I had a very grumpy mare snorting at me and nudging me with her nose "oi! hurry up!!"
wink.gif

The only person who i trust to do anything is my father, and then that's only to hay and water. I'm very finniky and anal about stuff, and just cannot cope with the thought of someone not doing it MY way

Can I suggest Evening Primrose Oil or some Stroppy mare!!! Mice traps left set in your feed bins, might deter the thieving rats!!!

.............I think Vodka would do just fine!

Honestly though - since I turned 25 EVERYTHING bugs me! It is like I am now on 'the other side'
