But my little tb is now barefoot and appears to be sound! I had the fronts taken off 6 weeks ago and the remaining hind egg-bar with wedge taken off today. He lost the off hind in the field a week ago, and having watched him carefully walk, trot, tight circle etc seemed sound on it ( this is the foot he was originally lame on ).

Ari was one tenths lame off hind on a straight line and on lunging examination at the vets back in October he was actually mildly lame on all 4 legs, diagnosis of PSD ( mild ) in all legs and negative angle pedal bones in hinds only.

The remedial shoeing did play it's part as a quick fix whilst the diet and management enabled him to grow a stronger foot, though I do have to say I did most of my research on here!

He detested the front egg-bars from day one, they were removed and normal shoes with double toe clips and rolled toes were put on, he decided against these also and was sound upon removal of front shoes. My vet agreed if he wants barefoot then keep him this way, and he is very pro shoeing.

Ari had his vets assessment 2 weeks ago and though slightly unlevel in his off hind showed no signs of PSD and the vet was happy with him. I suspected the slight unlevelness was down to a bit of thrush which having pulled the shoe off and I have treated the thrush, he was sound on the off hind barefoot so have taken off the near hind rather than replacing the lost shoe. No tightness in his back either which is usually a good indicator of foot pain / lameness. Bull-nosing appears to be growing out.

Part of the yard is stoney and and it has taken literally a few days for him to walk across the yard normally instead of being careful with off hind, fronts have been good for a while now.

My farrier whom i started using for the remedial work early November keeps telling what great quality feet with thick soles and lots of growth. Thumbs up to the makers of pro-hoof and thanks for the dietary help on here as he certainly had paper thin soles with cracks and almost persistent thrush ( he has a touch at the minute but given the water-logged ground it's hardly surprising! ).

Now just starting rehab work, just a few minutes being led in hand on the yard and we'll build it up from there.

Thanks, there's photo's on here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150319185685159.388498.786005158&type=3

and x-rays taken the end of October https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151315848345159.525896.786005158&type=3

Will have to get up to date close ups of the feet so as to have something to compare to.

Any tips for rehab / further maintenance is more than welcome, I am planning to keep him in part of the time in Spring / Summer, probably in during the day and out at night.
